My ultra minis are live on my website! I don’t do these every year but I think 2026 has kicked all of our bums, am I right? 😅🫣

I’ve had these photos sitting on my computer for months, and with Macie finishing radiation this Friday, I finally felt like it was time to share them.

We took these a few weeks after her first round of chemo. I really wanted to document this for her when she mentioned possibly wanting photos of this moment. She was very intentional with having us each cut a little pony tail, each having our own moments with her. And then, of course, I cried. She cried. We all cried.

And then we laughed. A lot. Because that’s Macie.

Somehow these photos hold so much of what this year has been. There is heartbreak in them. There is fear and unfairness and the reality of watching someone you love go through something you desperately wish you could take away from them.

But there is also so much life in them!

There’s her laughing moments after crying! There’s her beautiful bald head! There are colorful wigs and her kids piled around her and a husband carefully shaving off the last pieces of her hair. There’s Macie still being Macie in the middle of something that has asked so much of her.

And now, months later, she is almost done with radiation. This Friday! I hate that she has had to be this strong. I hate that any of these photos ever needed to exist. But God, I love that they do. Because when I look at them, I don’t just see cancer. I see my friend. Funny and beautiful and emotional and ridiculous and brave and completely, unmistakably herself.

I love you, Macie. And I am so proud of you.
