Sebastien Bicard Photography Timeless wedding photography, documenting emotion with elegant artistry. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Sacramento, California.

I shoot everywhere as long as my couples are rad and want to discover new places with me!

31/10/2026

My road trip from Texas to California was not the point.

The last two weddings of my US season were. One in Texas to open the month, one in Los Angeles to close it, and in between, the long, beautiful way, my favorite part of being a destination wedding photographer.

I could have flown. I drove instead, staying off the freeways as much as I could.

Thank you to both couples for having me along for the adventure!

And now, Paris. My wife, my son, my daughter and our two dogs, and some quality time I’ve been missing so much.

Good month, October.A

She said yes!

I just landed back in Paris, and it felt like the right moment to share this Paris proposal with you.

A few weeks ago, Adam asked Bridget to marry him in the garden of the Rodin Museum. She had no idea, while he and I had been quietly planning it for a long time.

We brainstormed beforehand, looking for a place that truly meant something to the two of them, not just a pretty backdrop. Adam is a massive romantic soul, and listening to his idea, keeping the surprise intact and taking care of every detail were at the heart of it. He even made sure their families were nearby, so everyone could celebrate together.

He knelt, her hand flew to her chest, and all those weeks of planning were suddenly hers.

Then we took time to wander and enjoy Paris in perfect end of summer weather. The Louvre, the Palais Royal, and a café kiss. All very Paris.

Swipe to the last frame for the proposal 🤍

Adam, Bridget, congratulations. I’m so happy for you!

This one is a little different.

After more than ten years as a destination wedding photographer, I wanted to write down the part of my work you don’t see in a gallery: the values I stand behind.

When you invite a photographer, or any vendor, into one of the most emotional days of your life, someone who’ll stand close to you, your family and your friends for hours, you should know who that person is before you say yes.

So this is a big part of me. I take the time to understand what matters to you. I show up as myself, and I hope you’ll feel free to do the same. I’ll tell you the truth, even when it’s not what you expected. And travel is simply part of how I work, so getting me to your wedding is never one more thing on your list.

Also, fair warning: I get excited. Very. That one I can’t turn off!

If this feels like you, I’d love to hear about your plans.

Some venues need you to fill them. San Francisco City Hall only needs you to show up.

That’s what lingered with me from Klara and Sean’s wedding. The building carried the grandeur, and the light set the mood, evolving all day long.

One of my favorite frame isn’t the dome or the staircase. It’s this one, their friends with arms linked, just laughing.

Beautiful places are breathtaking. The people from your wedding are what make them worth remembering.

Most people tense up the second a camera points at them.

So with me, it never starts with a pose. It starts with a conversation, about anything at all. I then give prompts instead of poses, and we share a good moment instead of an awkward one.

Then, on purpose, I take a few editorial frames. Everything takes about five minutes.

More and more couples tell me they want a little guidance without being turned into mannequins.

That’s exactly the balance I’m after.

By that time nobody is posing anymore, and honestly, that’s one highlight of being a destination wedding photographer.

The speeches are done. Shoes are either off or doing serious work. I’m no longer the person with the camera. I’m just someone who’s in it with them.

I live and work between Paris and San Francisco, and this one felt like both halves of my life meeting on the same hill.

Jeannette and Nick’s engagement session in Paris started at sunrise in Montmartre, when the neighborhood still belongs to the people who live there and a few late party people. Next year, I get to be there again for their California wedding at Switzer Farm with Mendocino Wedding Planner Zoë Braga Events on the coast.

I love getting to connect with my couples like this, spending time getting to know them rather than meeting them on the morning of.

Jeannette, Nick, see you in California. I honestly can’t wait!

I’ll say it plainly: a rainy wedding day might be the most beautiful version of New York.

I know nobody plans for it. Just watch what happens. The stone turns a shade darker, the light goes soft and even, and the whole city slows down a little. People stop rushing. They gather under awnings and umbrellas, and somehow everyone ends up watching you.

Rain has a way of handing unscripted moments to you, as long as you keep your eyes open.

I photographed this one for my friend Jean-Laurent Gaudy | New York Photographer
Rain, New York, and a friend I love working with. Hard to ask for more.

If your forecast calls for rain, smile. Something good is coming.

A massive high on a wedding day comes when the ceremony preparation is finished, quiet, and waiting for its guests.

Before the music and before the first chair is taken, the work of a whole team stands there on its own. Structured yet poetic, so much green yet the pops of white, and an iconic arch, dancing with the wind. The Tuscany hills do the rest.

I love to take the time to photograph it. Partly because it will never look like this again, and partly because a lot of people worked very hard for this precious moment.

A space this beautiful is only waiting for people.

I usually tell couples the rules are theirs to break. Thsurprisng reminded me that some are worth keeping.

A church comes with its own rules: where to stand, when to stay still, when to simply be quiet. I surprisingly appreciate working within them. They slow me down and make me wait for the moment instead of chasing it.

Keep the rules that mean something to you. Let go of the rest.

On that day, the first look happened between the columns of the Legion of Honor, and the ceremony at St. Ignatius was every bit as grand as it looks.
