Yay! I got the fall 2026 Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance cover to the program! Design by the amazing graphic artist Tanya Stephens Henderson. This was an idea that she thought of & asked me at the spring shakori if I wanted to be a part of it. Of course I said yes! I set up one of my cameras on a light stand as high as I could raise it at Grove Stage. Also used a cable release throughout the day & into the evening and would periodically swing by to take a photo, sort of in a timelapse fashion. After the festival I shared the images with Tanya and she worked her design magic. I love it! Fall Shakori starts tomorrow Thursday, October 1st through Sunday, October 4th. Great lineup!

Looking forward to photographing Hoppin' John Fiddlers' Convention today and tomorrow, Friday 9/18 & Saturday 9/19.
Also super excited to be seeing A Different Thread | Americana, Folk, Alt Country Music again for this evening’s concert out there. A Different Thread goes on stage after a Nest of Singing Birds, which starts around 7:30pm.

Come on out, if you aren’t already there! Terry and I will be there both days. Located on the same grounds as Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance - Shakori Hills Community Arts Center in Chatham County.

Long 10+ hour wedding yesterday. A beautiful ceremony at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, followed by the reception at High Point Country Club Inc. This is what it looks like to prepare for a large upcoming wedding on Friday! Zoom meeting with clients this morning to go over the timeline and the photo request list. Now starting the process of organizing gear, recharging batteries, and reformatting plenty of memory cards. Checking over the backup equipment to make sure that’s all good to go too in case we need it!  Right now, it looks like total unorganized chaos but I know where everything is! Lol! 😂 

Looking forward to working with Tamarah Ellen, my 2nd photographer again. It’s been too many months since!

I know that everyone is going to be grateful that this is an indoor wedding (ceremony and reception) as it’s supposed to be 97°f on Friday! Summer is still with us here in North Carolina!

Up on the blog - a three generation family session at Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden in Greensboro. I’ve known this very special family for about twelve years now. We had a beautiful spring morning for their session and it was so wonderful to see everybody again and meet some new-to-me family members!

Something I really look forward to photographing twice a year is Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance.

With less than two months to go to the fall festival, I'm reflecting on some great memories and several of my favorite photos from spring 2026 on the blog. Fall Shakori will be held on Thursday, October 1st through Sunday, October 4th.

Spencer and Savannah's woodlands engagement session at Tanglewood Park is currently featured on the blog. We met earlier this summer for their evening session and we had perfect weather and so many great locations for photos.

Congratulations to the soon to be Mr. and Mrs., who will be getting married next spring at The Meadows at Walnut Cove.

It was so good to see friends, Bob & Karen, yesterday! They came by for a visit and to pick up their custom usb-c & wedding gift! The Elizabeth Larson Photography Mid-Summer Newsletter is out! You will find shared links to student work from my spring workshop with Graham Recreation and Parks Department and my 2 summer classes at the John C. Campbell Folk School

And announcing two fall workshops coming up. One is for teens only, October 11th at Schoolhouse Farm in Pleasant Garden and the one for adults is being hosted again by Graham Recreation and Parks in celebration of the Haw River Trail's 20th anniversary, October 24th, along the Longmeadow Trail Trailhead on the Haw River Trail.
