Pixelated garden study in gouache (a kind of paint that acts a little like acrylic and a little like water color. Not as much texture as I usually work with. )

I typically sketch or trace a photo I’ve taken and then follow that rather closely for cues about color and composition. But this time I couldn’t find the photo even though I know exactly where it’s from. 🤷🏼‍♀️🥴😂
So, instead, I just painted it the way I thought it should look.

I like it.

These lovely birch bark beauties are headed to The Crafting Corner next week! They are made of found birch bark, cleaned and dried. Each scene is painted as the nature of the bark dictates. Irregular cutting of the mat board mount is a reflection of each irregular piece of bark.
