Made this panorama from several images from our trip the first week of June. In the full resolution version ( too big to upload here & also maybe too large for my website. It's 28,000 x 3300 pixals large. You can identify everyone sitting left of the fountain! This is Montgomery Square. Towards the center is the Riverfront tunnel to the Alabama River and a statue of Hank Williams. In front of the parked SUV is a plaque on the ground commemorating where Rosa Parks got on the bus for her historical ride that changed history. Under the clock is a statue of her. Then to the right, way down, is the Capitol Building and a statue of Jefferson Davis who gave his inauguration speech off the top steps, and also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech in front after the march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965. To the right, 2nd building on the rigth, is the site where the telegraph was sent that began the Civil War. It said to start shelling Ft. Sumpter. The site of the fountain was the largest auction block that sold everything, including enslaved Africans. People were marched here from far distances to be sold. Tremendous history is in every part of this image.
