A stunning photograph is more than just capturing a person. It’s a Mood. A Story told. An artistic expression of Style. An expression of Self.

So how do you capture all that?

For me, it starts with its selecting all of the details surrounding the model. From choosing the perfect outfit with different layers, colors, textures, and details. Then making sure I choose a backdrop that not only compliments my model and what she is wearing - but choose a backdrop that builds the right mood for the story we want to tell….

I spend thousand of dollars to fill my studio with the most magnificent hand painted backdrops. This green canvas by ZOOM Backdrops is one of my favorites. Its color is rich and the mild mid-tone texture adds a rich but subtle depth. Meanwhile there is this slight hint of warm tone colors underlying in the canvas which illuminates beautifully when I use a directional light. It acts as a sort of colorful background halo of light that surrounds my subject. For me my background canvases set the stage for my models to shine.

I’ve gotten carried away talking about this backdrop that I love…. I promise I’ll share more details about the poses I choose, the lighting I use, and more…. All things that will help you understand how a beautiful photograph becomes…. powerful :)

Meet our newest model to the scene…. A SoCal native, Joe has that strong laid back surfer vibe but mixed in with this light sophistication that likely comes from his time living abroad in Italy. As a Modle he’s got t chiseled features from his jawline to hisdefined side profile…. And the abs don’t hurt to have either ;)

Celebrating mothers is one of the most gratifying photoshoot experiences for me.

For I am always reminded that these are women who have given their lives whole heartedly to loving, caring and sacrificing for their children, their husbands, their parents…. And reached out with a lending hand to help their friends, neighbors and communities.

I have had the honor of photographing Rosaeileen 3 times.

Once to celebrate her as a woman on her birthday.

Once to capture her as mom in the middle of their beautiful family portraits

And most recently to capture her as a daughter im a legacy Mother & daughter session.

Rosaeileen… you are the core of all the love in your family and you deserve to be celebrated!

Every person I photograph has something that stands out to me almost immediately.

With Daniel, it was his eyes.

There’s an intensity there… a sort of effortless confidence and connection that draws you straight into the frame with him.

As a photographer, I love finding that defining feature in each person I work with and shaping the image around it. Sometimes it’s the eyes. Sometimes it’s bone structure, a smile, movement, or simply the way someone carries themselves.

The goal isn’t to make everyone look the same.

It’s to recognize what makes YOU compelling….

and bring more of that forward through expression, body language, styling, and direction.

Whether I’m shooting senior portraits or building a modeling portfolio, that individuality is always what I want the camera to capture.

It’s all in the eyes.

A stare. A gaze. A subtle shift in expression.

Some of the most powerful photographs aren’t created through a big smile or dramatic pose — they’re created in the quiet connection between the subject and the camera.

When I photograph someone, I’m always watching the eyes… working to bring out that confident, natural gaze that pulls you into the photograph.

Because when the eyes connect, the image connects.

And that’s when a portrait becomes powerful.
