Thanks ! Tweetsie !!!
As many of you may know, Tweetsie Railroad is a must-go-to attraction here in the High Country. Opening in 1957, Tweetsie Railroad is home to the original No. 12 locomotive engine, nicknamed "Tweetsie" due to its shrill "tweet tweet" 🚂 Tweetsie-fanatics, such as ourselves, usually find ourselves enjoying the spooks and frights at Tweetsie Railroad's Halloween event, the Ghost Train, around this time. However, due to Hurricane Helene, Tweetsie Railroad had to close, with an expected reopening date of November 29th 😔
BUT, like many other community organizations across the High Country, Tweetsie Railroad is not sitting on the sidelines waiting to reopen. In fact, Tweetsie Railroad is currently bringing joy to our community outside of the amusement park's normal boundaries! Many people know that Boone BOO! is one of, if not THE, most beloved events in Downtown Boone. This event takes months of planning, organizing, and candy-purchasing. With our local Walmart still closed due to repairs from Hurricane Helene and delivery services either stalled or delayed heavily, we here in Downtown Boone had NO idea how we would provide enough candy for our event.
That is when Tweetsie Railroad stepped in. As they are closed for the fall, Tweetsie Railroad decided to donate all of the candy, initially for the Ghost Train, to Downtown Boone for our Halloween event 🧡 Without this wonderful donation, Boone BOO! would not have enough candy to give out to the hundreds of smiling faces that come visit our streets. So, we want to say THANK YOU to Tweetsie Railroad for this fantastic donation! Make sure to check out Tweetsie Christmas, opening November 29th, and support such an amazing community partner!
