I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’ve made a decision that feels both difficult and necessary.
Going forward, I won’t be posting recognizable photos of children’s faces on my social media.
As a photographer, sharing the beautiful, funny, messy, fleeting moments I get to document has always been one of my favorite parts of this work. But the way AI is evolving, combined with Meta’s continued failure to adequately protect children online, has made me rethink what I’m comfortable putting out into the world.
I love these kids. I love their families. And I love the photographs I make for them. But their privacy and safety matter more than a post, a like, or a little square on the internet.
Over the next few weeks, you’ll also see past photos featuring children disappear from my feed. This is going to take some time, but it’s important to me to make this change thoughtfully and intentionally.
You’ll still see the tiny hands, the wild hair, the belly laughs, the snuggles, the chaos, and all the beautiful in-between moments.
Children must be protected fiercely. 💙
