B. Fitz Photo | Community Spotlight
This time, I stepped inside the dojo.
Aikido is movement, timing, balance and discipline — but watching a class, you also see trust. One person commits to the movement, the other responds, and both walk away learning something.
That’s what I wanted to photograph. Not poses. Not people stopping what they were doing for the camera. The moments in between — the expression, the movement, the concentration, the connection.
That’s what this Community Spotlight is about: the people, small businesses, organizations, artists, makers and local spaces that add something to Central New York.
They don’t have to be nonprofits. They just have to be doing something worth noticing — teaching, creating, building, helping, gathering people together, or simply making the community a little more interesting.
Who should I spotlight next?
If there’s a local business, group, organization or person you think deserves a little attention, send me their name.
