My dad hung on as long as he could after Krystal’s death but he left us on New Year’s Eve, putting the final nail in the coffin of the worst year of my life. He’s no longer suffering and passed peacefully at home with my mom by his side but that doesn’t make this second loss for our family hurt any less.
He was a quiet man with a goofy side that usually came out at Christmas time, hence the photos. On one hand he was too young, but on the other, it was a miracle he made it 73 years. He had the first open heart surgery performed on a child in Washington state and that surgery kept his heart going for 60+ years. As it failed, however, it damaged most of his organs which left him needing a lot of care.
The last year and a half have been difficult, these last 3 months nearly unbearable with the loss of Krystal, so it was his time to experience peace. I hope to get to a peaceful place in my own time, but for now I just have giant middle finger and good riddance to 2025. I love you dad and hope you and Krystal found each other 💔
