Let's be real, those August evenings can be sweltering and 5 month old babies (along with the weather) are a bit unpredictable. I made the decision to move this session time up due to potential storms. Once we stepped out of our vehicles, I knew this would be challenging. It was hotttttt!

This little sweet family was up for the challenge, though. They never once complained about the heat. But, when baby Cheznee decided to work out a lil "something" that had been building for 2 days, I knew enough was enough. Mother nature had called and she won 😬

What felt like a failed shoot turned out to be the sweetest little session. An unforgettable one, for sure!

Every session is different, every session has its challenges, and I try to stay true to my shooting style and have an active, in motion, real life, playful, loving session. Not too many poses happen during my shoots. We tend to giggle a lot, have fun, live our lives, and show real smiles all while I try to capture it all.... no matter what 📸💕

This week I threw my Canon around my daughter’s neck, grabbed a dress that’s been hangin’ in my closet for way too long, and put myself in front of the camera…. and boy… was THAT uncomfortable.

What I wanted was a new profile pic for this page. But, what I got was the opportunity to experience what it’s like being the subject.

Here’s what happened; I forgot what to do with my hands, I didn’t know where to look, and I doubted every move I made. Later on, I realized how important it is for me to make you, my subject, feel beautiful, loved, and confident. Since a person I loved was holding the camera, I was able to work through it, but now I truly understand the importance of hiring a photographer you can trust, who’s been in your shoes, and who knows how to direct you so your best self is reflected in the final portraits. In other words, making sure I get your good side 💕

I’m just always learnin’

Anywho, the summer is getting away from us, y’all! My calendar is open from August 15th on… let’s go chase some sunsets together 📸🌾🌼☀️
