Hot take: wedding parties aren’t really about the photos.
•
As someone who didn’t have one at my own wedding, I thought skipping it would save time, money, and a whole lot of logistics.
•
And honestly? It did.
•
Nobody had to buy a dress they didn’t love. Nobody had to stand through a long ceremony. Nobody had obligations, schedules, or expectations. But there were a few things I didn’t expect to miss.
•
Nobody was there to fluff my dress before photos. Nobody was carrying my phone, lipstick, or random wedding-day essentials.
Nobody was fixing a stray hair or reminding me to eat. Nobody was standing beside me during all those little in-between moments.
•
Because the truth is, a great wedding party isn’t really about standing at the altar.
•
It’s about having your people with you.
•
The people who keep the energy high when it’s 90 degrees outside. The people who make you laugh when it’s raining on and off. The people who jump on the party bus, hold your bouquet, hype you up, and somehow make chaos feel fun.
•
Looking back, I don’t regret keeping my wedding simple. But I do understand now why so many couples choose to have a wedding party.
•
Not for the matching outfits. For the memories, the support, and the people who help carry the day right alongside you.
•
These photos were taken on a hot July afternoon with rain threatening every few minutes, and yet you’d never know it. Just a group of people having the absolute best time celebrating their friends.
•
And honestly, that’s probably the best argument for a wedding party I’ve got.
