This is the first year in twelve years that I will not be heading back into the classroom. Iβm not so stressed about the first day of school and making sure everything is perfect for other peopleβs children. Instead, I spent the evening making sure backpacks are 100% ready. I made lunches and snacks that actually have healthy things like fresh fruit (to be real, that will probably only last a few weeks at best π). My boys will each have a note in their bags. The older ones that can read have a blessing included for the school year. Huddy just gets a drawing to match the decor in his classroom, and a note he can read. π₯°. Am I sad I wonβt be on campus with the boys? Absolutely! Butβ¦ I am also really enjoying the stress free-ness of starting a school year. I get to play the support role and I like it. So, to fellow parents out there, if things arenβt perfect at the start of the school year, remember our teachers are often parents too. They are busy getting classrooms ready AND preparing for their own children to return to school. They are moving kids into college ALL WHILE learning 18+ kids names and personalities at once. They are prepping for numerous classes/subjects WHILE trying to re-adjust to the demands of standing for eight hours a day, scarfing down lunch in a 20 minute period, and holding it until another teacher can watch their class for two seconds so they can go to the restroom. Take it from meβ¦ as someone not returning to the classroom this year, teaching is hard and takes a tremendous amount of energy. This energy is spent in the classroom often leaving a teacher drained. For me, my kids were the ones that felt that drain the most. --- ππΌ Thank a teacher this week and remember to be gracious.
