Your wedding doesn’t have to perform for the internet. With endless inspiration at our fingertips, it’s easy to start measuring a wedding against everything we’ve seen before. The photographs everyone wants, the traditions everyone includes, and the details that seem to define what a beautiful wedding should look like. There’s nothing wrong with loving those things, but there’s a difference between choosing something because it genuinely means something to you and including it simply because it’s expected.
After photographing over 100 weddings, I’ve come to appreciate that beauty and meaning aren’t competing priorities. A thoughtfully designed celebration can be just as personal as a simple one. But some of the most meaningful photographs come from moments nobody could have planned: a familiar embrace, an unexpected tear, or the kind of laughter that makes you forget anyone is watching.
Years from now, when today’s trends have given way to something entirely different, I hope your photographs remind you of more than what your wedding looked like. I hope they remind you of the people who were there, the emotions you experienced, and a celebration that still feels unmistakably yours.
