Ann Steiner Photography

Ann Steiner Photography I'm a mom with eight years' experience capturing in-the-moment photographs of my kids, and I'd love to do the same for you and your family.

I bought my first good camera when my daughter was a few months old so I could capture the wonderful, everyday moments I worried I'd forget as she grew. Another child, camera and few lenses later, and I realized it would make me happy to photograph those moments for other people, too. My full-time job is wrangling my children. My part-time job is researching and editing. This is my 'fun, sneak it

in when I can' job. I'm not in a position to be able to offer you a two-hour session at the location of your choice, but I know that sometimes you only want a handful of terrific shots for a Christmas card or special occasion, and I make it a point to do that as quickly and painlessly as possible. I've found some great locations in Twinsburg, Hudson and Aurora, and I'd love to spend 20 or 30 minutes with you and your family to get some frame-worthy photos.

My favorite picture from 2020 — a reminder that, along with the year’s anxieties, frustrations, fears and loneliness, there were also moments of joy. Here’s to more joy in 2021, friends.

When Governor DeWine announced on March 13 that schools would be closing for three weeks for an extended spring break sponsored by COVID-19, I did what I imagine most parents of small children did – I panicked. How would I keep my seven-year-old daughter and five-year-old son entertained while preserving my own sanity?

The next morning, the answer dawned on me – we’d go outside, of course. I’d been taking the kids hiking for years, but recently our family’s free time had been surrendered to the usual suspects: school and soccer, birthday parties and swimming lessons. We hadn’t been able to go on as many outdoor adventures lately as we would’ve liked. That was about to change.

We can’t go on an adventure every day, of course, and there are plenty of times when I ask my kids what they want to do that day and they shout, ‘Not go for a hike!’ That said, we’re almost always happier on the days we get outside. Though the cause of all our newfound free time weighs heavily on me more often than not, as I watch my kids splash in the water or jump off a big rock or excitedly point out a cardinal, it’s easy to forget about the real world for a moment, and I find myself grateful that our lives have slowed down, allowing us to explore together.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that although my business falls in the category of those allowed to resume operations on May 12, I will not be scheduling or conducting sessions for the foreseeable future.

I've thought a lot about this decision and to what extent I ought to share my rationale with you. The short version is I'm just not comfortable with the idea of shooting right now. If you'd like the long version, let me know, and I'll be happy to give you access to the ever-growing list of things that keep me up at night. 😉

I miss you. I'd love to be making your kids laugh and photographing their smiles. My kids are so tired of being my subjects, we adopted a puppy (meet Oliver!) so I'd have someone new to point my camera at.

When I'm sure I can give you the session and images you deserve, I'll let you know that I'm back and ready to go. Until then, stay safe and healthy, and please remember that memories preserved by your iPhone's camera are just as special as any my big fancy camera can capture.

I belong to some photography groups on here in which fellow moms share pictures of their kids to give each other ideas. Recently I’ve seen a number of gorgeous close-up shots of siblings side by side, looking intently into the camera. Tried it with my own kids yesterday. Nailed it.

Hey there, friends! I’ve been thinking of you all and feeling bummed that I won’t get to see you for the foreseeable future. I hope you’re staying safe and home as you’re able to. My family’s managing by getting mud-covered in less-popular parks and keeping the kitchen table covered in art supplies.

You take care, and hopefully we’ll see each other soon 💕

Today I was lucky enough to see two of my photos on display as part of Summit Metro Parks' photography exhibit at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm. I think by now you know I love my local parks, and it's such a joy to get to share some of my special moments there with others. The exhibit runs through May, though the Nature Realm is worth the trip any time of year.
