STRANGERS TO SISTERS 👯‍♀️

Okay, girlies. It’s finally time to show y’all how our very first Strangers to Sisters blind friendship date went. 🥹

Meet Shayla + Lexi — two complete strangers who filled out the same questionnaire, trusted me to play friendship matchmaker, and showed up to Companion Coffee Roasters having never met each other before.

And y’all…

THEY CLICKED. IMMEDIATELY. 😂

Like at one point, Shayla looked at me and was like: “are you magic?!”

They had SO much in common. Similar personalities, similar seasons of life…

Yall, their daughters are ONE. DAY. APART.
Their dogs? Same name😳😳😳

So many things that they just related to each other on. No forced conversation — everything just flowed like they had known each other their whole lives.

Before long I basically just got to step back, let them hang out, and photograph it happening.

And for all my other Strangers to Sisters girlies currently thinking:

“But what if it’s awkward?”
“What if we don’t know what to say?”
“What if she doesn’t like me?”
“WHAT HAVE I SIGNED MYSELF UP FOR?!” 😭😂

BREATHE.

First of all, I’m not throwing names in a hat. 😂 I’m reading every single questionnaire and matching you based on age, life stage, personality, interests, what you’re looking for in a friendship, and all those tiny details you gave me.

Second, I’m going to be there. You are not getting dropped off at a coffee shop with a stranger while I hide in a bush with an 85mm lens. 🤣 I’ll help break the ice, keep things moving, and give y’all things to do so you’re not just sitting there staring at each other.

And finally — you’re BOTH nervous. That’s kind of the magic of it. You both signed up because you wanted the same thing: a chance to meet someone new and maybe walk away with a friend you never would’ve met otherwise.

Shayla + Lexi showed up as strangers.

And by the end of their date, I genuinely felt like I was photographing two friends hanging out. 🥹

This is exactly what I hoped Strangers to Sisters could be.

And we are JUST getting started. 👯‍♀️😍

Working Women’s Wednesday 🩷

I’ve shown you a few sneak peeks from Rise Again Riding School, but I haven’t properly introduced you to the woman behind it.

Meet Mrs. Jam Lee TePoel.

Originally from Virginia, Mrs. Jam has been teaching horseback riding for more than 20 years.

But after spending an evening watching her teach, I realized pretty quickly:

She’s teaching a whole lot more than horseback riding.

Her students don’t just show up, climb onto a horse, ride around for an hour and go home.

They learn how to care for them.

They learn responsibility.

They learn patience.

They learn determination.

They learn that sometimes you have to try something again and again before you get it right.

She works math into her lessons. She talks about the Bible. She teaches them to pay attention, to problem-solve, to take care of something bigger than themselves, and—maybe most importantly—to believe that they are capable.

And you can see it.

I watched one of her youngest students learn how to care for a horse’s hoof.

I watched her carry a saddle that looked almost as big as she was. 😂

I watched Mrs. Jam patiently guide her through each step instead of simply doing it for her.

The mothers of the girls I photographed told me that since beginning lessons with Mrs. Jam, they have watched their daughters’ confidence blossom.

After seeing her with them, I understand why.

There is something incredibly special about an adult who looks at a child and doesn’t just see who they are right now.

She sees who they could become.

Strong.
Patient.
Responsible.
Confident.
Capable.

Mrs. Jam is teaching children how to ride horses, yes.

But somewhere between brushing horses, carrying saddles, learning numbers, holding reins and trying again when something is hard…

she’s helping raise some pretty incredible little humans, too.

And apparently I believe in what she’s doing enough that I came home and SIGNED OWEN UP. 😂

So I guess we’ll be seeing a whole lot more of Mrs. Jam and Rise Again Riding School around here. 🐴🩷

Happy Working Women’s Wednesday to a woman whose work reaches far beyond the riding arena.

Strangers to Sisters NIGHT is officially happening. I’ve teamed up with the Lava Room in downtown Florence for October 1st, 2026 to make the first ever Strangers to Sisters night happen!!!

60 of you have already raised your hand and said, “I need a friend”. So, let’s do it!! Let’s find your girl! 🥹

Come alone or bring a friend, we’ll all be there for the same reason — hoping to connect with a future sister. 👯‍♀️

Okayyyy… y’all know Strangers to Sisters. 👯‍♀️

What y’all DON’T know is that I’ve been working on something behind the scenes. 👀

I was going to wait until Monday to tell you, BUT we’re sitting at 699 followers and now I want to play a game. 🤣

If we somehow hit 800 followers before Monday, I’ll tell y’all early.

That’s 101 people, which feels mildly unhinged 😂 but share my page with your friends and let’s see what happens.

Sometimes the movement makes the picture 🤭

Your little one doesn’t need to stand still. They don’t need to look at me the whole time. And they definitely don’t need to be on their “best behavior.”

Let them run. Let them play. Swing them between you. Let them proudly carry the ultrasound pictures around.

Because years from now, I don’t think you’ll miss the perfectly posed version of this season nearly as much as you’ll miss what it felt like.

And that’s what I want to photograph 🥹🤍

I have spent entirely too much time reading through every single questionnaire, comparing personalities, interests, life stages, what kind of friendship you’re looking for, and all the little things that made me think, “WAIT… these two need to meet.” 🥹

And y’all… I am SO excited about these matches.
