By exploring landscapes from different angles, times of day and in different light , Dowling investigates the dynamics of lighting and it's effect on landscape, including the manipulation of these effects and the limits of spectacle. While presenting a factual reality, an illusion of

a softer, warmer and more welcoming landscape is presented much like we find in our imagination. Her photos establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its viewer.
