By the time she's done in this chair, the nerves are gone and the laughing has started, and THAT'S the woman who steps onto set. A few months ago I shared this posing video and the comments were full of "I could never do that" — so let's talk about it. You don't pose yourself in our studio. Ever. Justin talks you through every single movement — where your hand goes, when to arch, when to breathe. That's the whole job of a bo***ir photographer in Tuscaloosa, Alabama who's done this with over 1,100 women: you show up, we handle every pose from your fingertips to your toes. The women in these videos aren't models. They're nurses, teachers, moms — most of them were shaking in the parking lot 10 minutes before this. Most studios make you wait weeks for your images. We edit while you're still here — because the moment you first see yourself matters most while the day's joy is still in the room. Yes, it makes the session longer but we wouldn't trade it: watching a woman meet herself on that screen is the privilege of this whole job.

Nobody warned her that 'Mom' would slowly become her whole name. Between school runs, snack negotiations, and being everyone's calendar, the woman underneath went quiet. When we asked over 4,000 women why they wanted a session, mothers said some version of the same thing: I want to remember who I am when nobody needs me. She's still in there. We're endlessly grateful we get to be the ones who reintroduce them.
