Hello from Skip,

As we’re just a few days away from April 27—the day that reshaped our community—I find myself in a time of reflection.

As a photographer, I’ve always believed in telling the story through images. Moments like these can so easily fade, be forgotten, or go unrecognized. That’s something I’m always aware and I’m grateful for it. Because now, as I look back through these images I’m sharing with you today, I’m reminded that I wasn’t just documenting—I was there. Serving. Handing out food, water, and whatever was needed.

My daughters were there too—Jessica, who was 19 at the time, and little Yasmeen, just four years old—both serving alongside so many others.

As you look through these photos, take a moment to really see the people in them. Look at their faces… their glow… their joy. That’s what comes from serving others with a genuine, unconditional heart.

If you recognize anyone in these images, please help us get these photos to them. There are many who may have never seen or received them.

Thank you for taking a moment to remember.

My daughter, Yasmeen, and I were at the studio yesterday for people to pick up their tiles that we recovered from the YMCA. She started talking about her life and how she thinks it played a role in her decision to pursue the medical field and she started talking projects that she remembered participating in just to be a blessing to someone and she sees the direction that she’s going as being in the same way.
We started discussing some memories and one of those was during the tornado. She was quite involved as we drove around, getting to people who were kind of stuck at their homes and she would give them beverages and all kinds of items needed, it was in this that one day in the parking lot of Leland, She had some great experiences with some people in the medical profession and they introduced a stethoscope to her and allowed her to listen to people’s breathing and their heart.
last night I went back through the photos and found these moments and I’m sharing them here to say thank you to all of you and those who are continuing to be in her life guiding her.
I would love to do a photo soon of her in her scrubs with this group if we can find them.
Thank You 🙏🏼 Skip & Family

10 years ago while the Tuscaloosa YMCA was being demolished my daughter Yasmeen and I were busy saving items from going to the landfill. One of those items were the subway tiles that had been signed by individuals that played a significant role in it’s history.
The tiles were mounted to the wall along the hallway leading to the pool. Today I asked Yasmeen to hold a tile that we framed with the gym floor. We had placed it in a different location than the others and just came across it and doing a google search shows this gentleman and his family were great people. We took the time today to add photos of the others still remaining. Please help us find their families so we can continue to gift these back. Thanks, Skip & Family

Reflecting on the love and support my community gave to one another after the Tornado. I remember at this very moment we were feeding people in Coaling, a small community just outside Tuscaloosa that was severely hit by a tornado earlier the same morning.
The link im sharing shows the pouring of love. If you see someone that you know, please get their photo to them and thank them..
