Montgomery Pass / Mono Basin Wild horses running down from the hills into the meadow for their evening drink. Such an amazing experience!
These beautiful creatures are endangered of a pending BLM/USFD roundup this summer to reduce the herd. Very controversial for some. Not Me.
These horses should be protected and not rounded up to be stored in pens indefinitely at taxpayers expense, when there is wide open range such as the Montgomery Pass area.
BLM/ USFD claim many are outside boundaries, well this is where caring for(managing) them comes in. Let’s find a way to get them back in boundaries safely. The other issue is they say the land is only sustainable for less than two hundred horses, which seems like a very small estimate (outdated quotas) for acreage over 700,000 (think boundaries around somewhat like that). There are estimates of around 699 horses out there. The horses contribute to the ecology of the area, not kill it as some claim. I’m not an expert and I’m not an extremist on this issue either. I do believe in science, and science supports updates to the quotas.
