Heirloom or Milestone?

This question gets asked a lot, especially around that first birthday.

The answer really depends on how you want to preserve this season.

Heirloom Portraits have a traditional shoulders-up composition and are created with finished artwork in mind. We plan everything from clothing to the final framed pieces for your home.

Milestone Sessions are more relaxed, with more movement and variety. These portraits can be preserved in a variety of ways, from a full digital gallery to an album, matted prints, or framed artwork.

Two beautiful ways to remember the same season. 🤍

Some kids hear "smile for the camera" and immediately forget how to smile.

Trust me, I have two of them. 😂

The second they notice a camera, everything changes. The smile gets stiff, their eyes widen, and suddenly it feels more like an obligation than a genuine moment.

Instead, we play.

We explore, tell silly jokes, race to a tree, and make room for real moments to unfold.

The smiles you want to remember are:
The laugh that sneaks out unexpectedly.
The grin that appears when they're having fun.
The look that is completely, undeniably them. 🤍

And in between the sleepless nights, feeding, healing, and figuring it all out, it can all feel a little hazy.

The second half of the year always feels a little magical to me. 🤍

The return of familiar faces. The excitement of planning holiday cards. Children who somehow look a little older than they did the year before.

As I work behind the scenes on the months ahead, I wanted to share a quick studio update.
