Spent the weekend in Chicago second shooting this incredible wedding at The Rookery Building in downtown Chicago for my friend Essi Ala-Kokko . From flying in and pre-wedding drive chats to capturing this awesome couple surrounded by their loved ones, it was just what my heart needed.
Stepping inside of The Rookery Building is jaw-dropping. The floor-to-ceiling marble hits you immediately, and then you see the glass light court designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and All the gold detailing throughout the entire venue is just a total marvel. Plus getting to do photos with that iconic spiral staircase was a total wedding photography bucket-list moment (just wait until you see those photos).
Everything was a constant reminder of why traveling for weddings is the absolute best job in the world. Getting to photograph in unique, historical, beautifully built spaces such as this is where I draw so much of my inspiration as a wedding photographer. Leaving Chicago was bittersweet, but getting to tell stories in iconic places like this keeps my creativity flowing, keeps my mind fresh, and feeds my soul so I can serve my couples that much better.
Already counting down the days until the next destination trip.
