A LOVE LETTER TO MY CHILDREN 🏛 | THE BORDERS OF JUSTICE : TRUE CRIME TV PRODUCER PROSECUTED FOR PROTECTING
Rosario Chico is a TV Producer. Chico has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Social Media. She has produced shows such as The First 48, In Pursuit with John Walsh, New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, My 600-Lb Life and has worked on other network shows for TLC, DiscoveryID, Lifetime, Telemundo, CNN, ABC, BET, and A+E. Chico is a DACA (DREAMER) and a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) recipient. Chico is a recipient of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and as such has been granted immigration relief by the United States Federal Government due to being deemed a victim of domestic violence perpetrated by her spouse. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides protections for immigrant women and victims of crime. After Child Protective Services failed to protect Chico’s children from abuse, Chico applied for a job at Child Protective Services with the same department that failed her children. Chico obtained a job as CPS worker investigating child abuse and neglect. Chico has been investigating the family court system’s failure to protect domestic violence victims, protective parents, and abused children. Chico has started filming and documenting stories of parents and children fighting the same impossible court system that is set up to protect those with resources rather than victims and children.
On June 29th, 2022, Rosario Chico had her preliminary hearing for felony child stealing charges she faces as a result of fleeing to protect herself and children and was found and arrested at a domestic violence shelter in Arkansas. She had a protection order in place against her abusive husband for herself and her children but he sent his mother to file for emergency guardianship and was granted without notifying her. She was arrested in Arkansas at a domestic violence shelter where she served jail time and now faces felony child stealing charges. As recorded on audio, CPS contacted Chico to notify her that ...ual abuse was substantiated. The CPS protocol was met to substantiate and nothing would change that. The Department recommended Chico take steps to protect her children. The Guardianship was seeked out and put in place to intervene and undo yet another child abuse investigation for the minor children. The family court judge had denied the father’s petition for emergency custody of the minor children and his petition for the children to be placed with paternal grandmother of the minor children and was instead served with a protective order. The children left in the care and protection of Ms. Chico, so the father et all “forum shopped” to escape accountability.
We have spoken with the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. After hearing the facts of the case, the Coalition advised that the protective order was violated and that the guardianship is a violation of the protection order which is still in place to this day.
Prison. It’s one of those things many are intrigued by, but only from a distance. No one wants to experience it in real life. We all love a good prison movie or series. From those that show life on the inside to daring prison escapes. "The land of the free” arrests more than 28,000 people a day. Some 2.7 million children have an incarcerated parent. The State of Oklahoma has the highest incarceration rate for women in the nation – over 60% of those women are victims of domestic violence and abuse. Some of those women are being charged for ‘failure to protect’ when they are being abused by the abuser themselves while the actual abusers get a slap on the wrist and minimal if any sentencing. There is also a pattern of catch 22, other mothers are being criminally charged for attempting to protect their children when no one in the system is doing so. Chico is now working to reform the justice system to better serve domestic violence victims and children in the state of Oklahoma and nationwide.
