Wow!!! I've never been so close to a governor before! But then I've never been to an inauguration before either. What a privilege to be with Jude today as he and his mentor Greg rehearsed tomorrow's ceremony with mic checks and a full rehearsal. I had no idea of the testimony as a Christian our new governor has, nor of his family heritage in Christ. Believers across our state need to remember to bring him before the Lord each and every day.

Looking at last year in pictures and videos at church tonight reminds me yet again that Phyllis and I are incredibly blessed to be at Eastland Baptist Church. I so wish all of my friends could or would experience what we are so blessed to be a part of every week.

Jude Buffington asked us to come to OKC and photograph his audio company Audio Buff as they provide the audio coverage for Monday's inauguration. Phyllis and I are so blessed to get the privilege to photograph things like this, and for wonderful friends like Jude and Monica! Id say the best part of the day was being with Jude, but the REAL best part was exploring the area around the new BNSF bridge over I-235 and getting a train. Sorry Jude, you and the governor are in a distant second place when it comes to trains!

The year is off the a blessed start for Phyllis and me! It's super cool to watch young couples bring their new baby to church for the first time like Billy and Stephanie! Watching (and photographing) folks get baptized never loses its wow factor! And to top it all off we got to see Matt and Allison Harp's new baby boy tonight!!!

Daniel Fleet asked me if we could come to their New Year's class fellowship at Five Oak Lodge in Jenks. One of my first thoughts was what Jacob/Jessica and David /Kristi would think of their parents populating THEIR class party...like how weird would that be??? Daniel said he had spoken with them and they thought it would be fun. Phyllis and I are again reminded of what a privilege it is to serve the Lord with so many precious people and how blessed we are to count them as friends! Even though we're old enough to be their parents...

Lots of thoughts cross my mind as I look at these pictures. I'm so, so thankful for two of the most influential men in my life, both of whom I've had the privilege, honor and blessing to serve the Lord with, Dave Hardy and Troy Dorrell, and who have been my pastor.

So often I think of how blessed Phyllis and I are to be in a church like Eastland Baptist. It is often our wish that everyone could be here.

It was great having all of the various Alvis and Ashworth families gathered to be together with Harry. Being at Eastland for thirty years has given us a lot of time to form friendships, so when they come back to Eastland it's a special treat.
