I share stories behind the shots and create wall art in print, canvas, and metal. "A photograph can be a magical thing that mentally takes you to a place you have never been or reminds you of a pet or a place you already love. These pieces of art can change your whole mental state of mind and connect you to nature in a way that is fundamentally the same as really being out in the wilderness yourse

lf." I am Cheri Alguire, a professional photographer who specializes in pet, landscape, and event photography. My passion for photography began when I was three years old, in my father's darkroom in our basement. I received my first camera at age five, and I have been taking pictures ever since. For over two decades, I worked as a high-powered business coach, assisting real estate teams, brokerages, and other small businesses. I now coach a team of coaches, and they handle much of the client coaching, giving me more time to spend behind the lens, where my passion is. It wasn't until I started taking photographs again that I realized how much I had missed it. Photography had always been something I loved, but I had let it fall by the wayside in pursuit of my career. But as I started to make pictures more regularly, I realized that I was happiest with a camera in my hands

So, I took the leap and started my own photography business. It was a scary decision, but I knew that if I didn't try, I would always regret it. I started small, making images of my travels, taking pet portraits and doing commercial shoots for local businesses. But as word of mouth spread, my business grew. I started selling stock images online, and soon I was being hired to shoot live events and weddings. My work now includes pet portraits, commercial shoots, landscapes and live events. I love the variety that comes with each new project and the challenge of capturing the perfect shot. But what I love most about being a photographer is the ability to capture a moment in time. Whether it's a pet's playful grin or the stunning sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, I get to freeze that moment forever. It's a privilege and an honor to be able to do what I love every day, and I am grateful for every opportunity to create something beautiful with my camera. I spent the last decade traveling in my Motorhome, crisscrossing the US. I aim to experience, photograph and share as much of that beauty as possible. While I have many photos of iconic places such as Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon, I also have photos of unknown swamps in Louisiana, deserts in Arizona, lakes in Minnesota, small towns, larger cities, and so many other unusual places. The landscape, the wildlife, the pets, the cities… they are all so different, and unique! We live in an amazingly beautiful and complex world. As I continue to share my heart with you through these photos, I hope you enjoy the journey with me, and maybe add a few pieces of my art to your collection! Do you have a specific photography need? Let me know how I can help.

Happy Labor Day!

Today is a chance to recognize the hard work, dedication, and determination that keep our communities moving forward. Whether your work happens behind a desk, on the road, outdoors, at home, or somewhere entirely different, every contribution helps shape the world around us.

As someone who has spent years traveling with a camera in hand, I’m especially grateful for the people whose work makes the places I photograph possible to experience, enjoy, and preserve.

I hope you have a relaxing Labor Day and find a little time today to slow down, get outside, and enjoy the beauty around you.

Golden hour has a way of transforming the Badlands. As the sun sinks lower, the rugged spires catch the warm light while long shadows reveal every ridge and gully carved into the landscape. With the prairie stretching below and a lavender-blue sky overhead, it was one of those quiet South Dakota moments I knew I had to capture.

This is why I love photographing places like Badlands National Park. Even landscapes shaped over millions of years can look completely different when the light changes for just a few minutes.

Bring the golden glow of the Badlands to your walls. Visit my shop and find this Badlands National Park print: https://imagesbycheri.etsy.com/listing/4363439931

The Wawatam Lighthouse in St. Ignace, Michigan, stands as more than just a beacon guiding ships. It’s the icon of St. Ignace, a symbol of resilience and modern engineering. And I remember this shot, I was standing there, the air crisp, and the lighthouse standing tall as a guardian. I couldn’t help but ask myself: What makes them so interesting?

Wawatam is relatively young compared to the towering, weather-beaten beacons from centuries past. It is nevertheless undeniably charming. It was originally built in 1998 for a Monroe pier and later moved to its home in St. Ignace in 2006. A lighthouse doesn’t often find a second life. But here it is, Wawatam is leading both ships and visitors through the Straits of Mackinac.

The calm waves brushed against the pier as I took the photo. The sky was soft, and the white and red structure perfectly blended with the skies. Something about it just felt right; everything felt in the right place for the perfect shot. It wasn’t only about the conditions. This automated lighthouse somehow spoke to me. Perhaps it's about its journey from being a decorative lighthouse to a functional one. Or maybe it was its presence in this historical town of St. Ignace in a quiet, steady way.

I wanted to focus more than its appearance. I wanted to communicate its purpose, its own place in this town with its history and its tradition. This lighthouse may be modern, but it seems to have stood in Wawatam Park since the beginning of time. A reminder that even new things can become icons when in the right hands or the right place.

Whenever I look at this photo, I always remember that sometimes it’s the small, modern heroes that catch our attention. And the Wawatam Lighthouse in St. Ignace, Michigan, is one of them.

Happy National Wildlife Day!

There’s something special about seeing a young bison following closely behind an adult, learning its way through the wild one step at a time. Moments like this remind me why I fell in love with wildlife photography. Every encounter gives us a glimpse into a world that continues whether we’re there to witness it or not.

National Wildlife Day is a wonderful reminder to appreciate the animals that share our world and the wild places they depend on. I’m grateful my camera gives me the opportunity to preserve moments like this and share them with you.

Today, take a moment to celebrate wildlife, whether that means getting outside, supporting conservation, or simply appreciating the incredible animals that make our world so beautifully diverse.
