Some of my favorite unscripted moments from Nichole and Kyle’s day.

The art of taking a documentary style approach to photography is that you allow space for authentic interactions to unfold. It seems simple, being that there are numerous exchanges taking place at any given moment during a wedding day. But to photograph the moments that send chills down your spine, it requires so much more than just “taking pictures”. While the interactions themselves happen organically, the photos do not. It’s about doing your best to anticipate what’s going to come next and being attentive so you don’t miss those little moments that come and go so quickly. Some of the most touching photos come from a moment shared between two people that lasts only an instant. Photography is so much more than the simple press of a button. It’s a form of art that demands both emotion and intention from the photographer themself. It’s one thing to take a photo, it’s another to document a moment that evokes feeling and tells a story.

This day was filled with so much love, making those little moments all the more noticeable and meaningful. Slide 14 stands out to me as one of my all-time favorite photos - a perfect representation of an interaction that lasted just seconds yet speaks volumes. Isn’t it amazing how the seemingly small gestures can hold the deepest significance?

With the season winding down, I’m finally catching up on sharing last year’s weddings — starting with Cale and Abigail’s.

Every moment of this day was chock full of warmth and love. There’s a balance to be found in documenting both the conspicuous, and the most subtle moments—the pulse of energy as everyone dances together, lost in their favorite songs, and the quiet grace of two hands meeting, lingering just long enough to photograph. It’s in these contrasts that the true beauty of a wedding unfolds: the unforgettable memories and the delicate, often fleeting moments that might otherwise fade in the rush of it all.

The Gibsons’ day was a perfect harmony of both, making it easy to document every layer.

Here’s to a love that feels like home, and a bond that grows with each passing season, as timeless and vivid as the colors of this autumn day.

The Becnals.

Kaira + Cameron’s elopement was a page torn from a storybook. It was a day that so effortlessly blended adventure with elegance and romance. From the way Kaira’s hiking boots peeked beneath her satin dress as she made her way up the mountain, to the sound of their voices, mixing with the steady flow of the waterfall as they exchanged vows. Every moment was pure alchemy.

To document photos that stir the soul, you must first have a love that’s impossible to deny. I think it’s safe to say that Kaira and Cameron were and are an embodiment of that.

As creatives, there are moments of burnout. Times when you feel worried that maybe you’ve turned your passion into something that feels like a job. But as creatives, there are also moments when you meet couples and document love stories so beautiful, it becomes soup for the soul. For me, this day was just that. And I couldn’t be more grateful for it.

Years ago when being a couple’s photographer was just a thought in the back of my mind, an opportunity to document a proposal like this was something I’d only ever dreamt of. I wish I could show these photos to 19 year old me. To know that I’d have this chance to be a firsthand witness to one of the biggest chapters of someone’s love story would have shook me to my core. I mean, I’m shook now.

Love is so invigorating- even when it’s not your own. That’s why most of us are suckers for romcoms and Nicholas Sparks movies I suppose. But this proposal was so much better than any movie. Because it was real. And it was raw. And it was absolutely beautiful.

I hid in a gift shop while I waited to see Amanda, Jenessa’s best friend walk by and give me the queue that it was time to get in position. And there she went down the trail, her small frame lugging a HUGE tote full of the decorations. She so thoughtfully set everything up while Matthew (pictured) and Ivan kept Jenessa distracted. It was so sweet to watch Amanda pour so much effort and thought into someone else’s love. Not just on the day of, making sure everything was just right, but the weeks prior, texting me to make sure we had everything set up so that it would be perfect for Jenessa and Matthew. And it was. Beyond perfect in fact.

To Jenessa and Matthew, congratulations. Thank you Matthew for allowing me to document such a special milestone in your life. It was so beautiful. Your love was an incredible thing to witness. I just know you two will live a long, happy and fulfilling life together.

And to Amanda and Ivan, we all need friends like the two of you. One to set up the decorations, and the other to get chased by a moose while trying to keep Jenessa away from the proposal site.

Don’t you just love, love??
