I took a lot of pictures of squirrels on our Pacific Coast Highway vacation. This one was taken at Morro Bay on 6/21/26. During our trip, I had a foreign tourist ask me what this animal is. I was shocked that he didn't know what a squirrel was. I told him and he looked it up on his phone. I had to spell it out for him, too. He said he was from Europe and they didn't have squirrels. I researched after the fact and it seems that most of Europe has at least one type of squirrel so I am not sure what part of Europe he was from. It became a family joke whenever we saw a squirrel after that point.

Abies Forrestii var Smithii (forrest fir) pine cone at the Mendoncino Coast Botanical Gardens 6/29/26. This pine cone starts off a purple/blue color and then matures to a dark brown.

6/29/26 Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. I got in the gardens free using my reciprocal Tohono Chul Park membership! I walked through the gardens and ate lunch there. My husband had dropped me off so when I called to tell him that I was done, he said that he wouldn't be there to pick me up for another hour. So I walked around some more and I am glad that I did because I noticed this tiny frog in a lily!
