Some sessions feel less like “taking photos” and more like being invited into the rhythm of a family for an afternoon.
This sweet couple came all the way from Texas to spend time with family before welcoming their baby girl, and I’m still smiling thinking about our time together. We spent the afternoon following the natural flow of the day — eating eegee’s by the pool, sneaking cookies on the play structure, playing with the dogs in bed, and soaking in quiet moments with mama and her mama outside the home that holds so much love for this family already.
The older I get, the more I believe the most meaningful photographs aren’t about perfectly posed moments. They’re about preserving how it felt to be there. The laughter between bites of cookies, the way they looked at each other, the comfort and playfulness woven through every interaction — those are the things I hope their daughter gets to see one day.
Watching this family together made it so obvious that this little girl is arriving into a world overflowing with tenderness, joy, safety, and connection. What a lucky baby she is already.
Congratulations again to you both. Thank you for welcoming me in, trusting the process, and being so fully yourselves in front of my camera. I had the best time with all of you.

They were in town from D.C., soaking up time with grandparents, and wanted to remember this stretch of days together.
We kept it simple—an afternoon at the park.
Stories on a blanket, songs half-sung, kids moving between laps and open space.
I love when sessions hold more than just one family unit—when grandparents are part of it, when there’s history and connection layered in, when the kids get to be with their people.
If you have family coming into town (or you’re the one visiting), it’s such a good time to photograph it. Nothing formal—just time spent together.

Now booking Tucson sessions 🤍

If you’ve been feeling burnt out and overwhelmed, you’re not imagining it.

A lot of people I talk to are dealing with:
– exhaustion
– apathy
– hopelessness

You’re not alone, you just need to spend time with people who energize you and make you feel seen. Oh, and maybe a photo session that reflects back to you all of the reasons you matter.

xo,
Jenna

There’s something about this stage that always gets me.
Not the first session.
Not even the in-between moments.
But this part — where the year comes together.
Where hundreds of fleeting, ordinary, beautiful moments begin to take shape into something you can hold.
This sweet family just wrapped their final session in their Year in the Life. And as I begin designing their custom photo book, I keep thinking about everything that quietly changed…
They became a family of four.
They brought a new baby home.
They stepped into a brand new space that will hold so many of their future memories.
And now, all of it — the big milestones and the in-between — gets woven into a story they’ll return to for the rest of their lives.
Not stuck on a phone.
Not lost in the scroll.
But printed, preserved, and deeply felt.
This is the part that always gets me… because it’s not just about beautiful images.
It’s about remembering what this season of life actually felt like.
And having it forever.

If you’ve ever wished you could bottle up a year of your life like this… you can.
Year in the Life memberships are quietly becoming my most treasured offering.

Tell me you were a 90’s kid without telling me…
- dark eyeliner ✔️
- crimped hair ✔️
- elmo obsession ✔️
- owned multiple D.A.R.E. items for no apparent reason ✔️

But also, I was the kid who:
– was never home (my social calendar was full before I even knew what that meant)
– said yes to every sport, not because I was the best, but because I loved being part of a team
– would choose being outside over anything else
– stopped for every animal… and every baby
– and loved to perform and make people laugh
Looking back, it feels like all the best parts of who I am now were already there.
I’m curious—what were you like in the 90’s (or whenever you were growing up)?
Give me 3 words or a quick list:
👇👇👇
And if you have photos… I want to see those too.

Photo 1: 3rd or 4th grade? Glad I grew into those teeth. 🤓
Photo 2: One of the best days of my life - my baby sister was born!
Photo 3: AZ vacay with fam, of course I have a baby on my hip. That's my cousin Bonnie.
Photo 4: high school softball pic
Photo 5: junior in high school
Photo 6: Softmore volleyball pic
Photo 7: Prom Softmore year
Photo 8: age 12 hyper fixated on all the babes and sporting my onesie pajamas 😆
Photo 9: sister sleepover 🥰
Photo 10: probably watching Barney with my baby sis. Also, love that I have on my D.A.R.E. shirt - classic.
Photo 11: camping with the fam. Pretty sure this is the trip where a tree branch fell on my head and knocked me out cold.
Photo 12: 10ish? I think this was on our way to AZ
Photo 13: Junior in high school - dressed up as May West for our annual music performance
Photo 14: Junior in high school with my ridiculously large Elmo - it was in, I swear.
Photo 15: Age 11 - my favorite Christmas ever!! Found out that my mom was pregnant and I got this porcelain doll I'd been begging for years. Lottery winner over here! 👊

I’ve been creating a lot lately… but not all of it has felt aligned.
Right now, I want to be known for creative, honest photo sessions that use light in really intentional ways.
That means I’m doubling down on:
– using light in bold, interesting ways
– slowing down and connecting more with my clients before and during sessions
– creating images that feel true, artistic, and personal to each story
And letting go of:
– labels and trying to fit my work into a specific box
I’m committing to using my artistic vision at each session, even if that means experimenting more, playing without expectations, and asking boldly for specific shots as I am inspired by the environment, light, and/or moment. It’s going to be great for me and even better for my clients.
I want my work to feel like a reflection of both you and me—your story, seen through my eye. A mix of intention, creativity, and honesty.
I’ll guide you into the good light. I’ll help shape the moment. But I’m also going to leave space for things to unfold naturally.
No formulas. No forcing it.
Just creating images that feel like you—and look like nothing else.

Also, here's more images from my senior portrait session with my son, where we used our combined visions to make something truly unique and meaningful to us both. 😍

Photographing my own son’s senior photos was surreal. How did I get here already and how did my son turn into such an amazing human? I'm just so proud of him. 🥰
He’s the kind of kid who brings so much energy into a space—fun-loving, spirited, always laughing. He’s deeply into animation and Pokémon, and I love how fully he leans into the things he loves. He’s also one of the kindest, most loyal people I know.
Watching him grow up has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. It’s wild to be at this point already.
We kept his session true to him—letting his personality lead, trying ideas together, and just enjoying the process. That’s always the goal, but it meant even more this time.
If your teen wants something that actually feels like them, I’d love to create it. Let's chat. 👋

More images to come...

“OMG what a privilege to have Jenna take our family’s photos. She is fun and kind, and the photos are an absolute work of art. It’s hard to put into words how much joy these bring us — truly some of our favorite photos ever.”
This is why I do what I do.
Not for perfect poses or picture-perfect moments, but for this — photos that actually feel like you. The kind you come back to over and over because they hold something real.
The Year in the Life sessions have slowly become my favorite way to photograph families. Showing up more than once changes everything. There’s less pressure, more ease, and a lot more honesty in what we create together.
It ends up being less about “taking photos” and more about paying attention to your life as it is right now — the rhythm of it, the way your kids move through it, the small things you don’t realize you’ll want to remember.
If that kind of documentation matters to you, I’d love to work together.

Myth: You need tons of experience before you put yourself out there.
Truth: I started my Year in the Life subscription without a clear blueprint — just a strong pull toward something I had been wanting to create for years. I didn’t have it all figured out. I just started, and let it take shape as I went.
Why it matters: Waiting to be “ready” keeps more people stuck than unqualified. The things that matter most — the ones that feel a little bigger, a little more meaningful — rarely come with a perfect plan.
And now, it’s easily my favorite offering. It’s where I see myself spending most of my time. Having clients I get to see regularly is the best case scenario for me — not just for the photos, but for the experience as a whole.
When we show up together over and over again, everything shifts. There’s less time spent warming up, and more space to create honestly. Kids settle in. Walls come down. The in-between moments start to take center stage.
It becomes less about “a session” and more about documenting a life as it’s actually being lived.
And that’s the whole point.

Seventy years.
Fifty-one years of marriage.
Seven grandkids.
One very committed backyard mud fight.
This is your sign.
The milestone.
The birthday.
The anniversary.
The “everyone is actually in town at the same time” weekend.
The ordinary Saturday that doesn’t feel like much right now.
Photograph it.
Not because everything is perfect.
Not because you finally lost the weight.
Not because the kids are suddenly calm.
But because this is your life. And it’s worth remembering exactly as it is.
Almost every client tells me the same thing after their session:
“That was so easy.”
“That felt so natural.”
“Even he had fun.” (You know who “he” is.)
My sessions are casual, relaxed, and completely centered around who you actually are. I’ll guide you when you need it. I’ll take charge in a calm way. And then I’ll step back so you can just be with your people.
Even the most reluctant participants end up thanking me afterward.
And the best part?
When you see your photos, you recognize yourselves. Not a stiff, posed version. Not a curated version.
You.
The way your daughter leans into you.
The way your parents stand shoulder to shoulder after decades together.
The way your kids run straight into chaos and somehow it becomes magic.
Time is moving whether we document it or not.
If you’ve been waiting for the “right” moment, this is it.
I still have a few openings for family sessions in Tucson, including my Year in the Life offering — which is perfect if you want to tell a fuller story of your family across seasons instead of just one day.
Let’s celebrate your people while you’re in it. 🤍
