Stealthscape - the beauty of low observability.

In the summer of 2026 SAAB unveiled their Loyal Wingman design for the future. What the public got to see was the full-scale model of Saab A3, unmanned stealth aircraft, scheduled to take off in 2027/2028.

Recent rainfall had left plenty of raindrops to supplement the smooth curves and jagged panel lines of this airframe.

The vintage Ae-45 soars over Estonian countryside. Registered as ES-ART, this piece of rare aviation history went through a lengthy restoration process after a mishap in the 1980s that left it grounded for decades. It was amazing to see it in its natural habitat.

Ö 1 Tummelisa (Thumbelina), a biplane from the 1920's, was once used as a trainer aircraft by the newly-formed Swedish Air Force. Only 28 planes were built and none of those are kept in flyworthy condition - the one flying in the photo is a replica. The "Ace of Hearts" was built using the methods and tools available at the time the original airframes were built and also uses a restored original engine.

The engine is of a rotary type, not radial - meaning the entire engine block (cylinder casings) spin around a fixed crankshaft, creating a considerable gyroscopic force.

Swedish Special Forces on low approach to the Landing Zone during a tactical demo.

What impressed me the most was how suddenly a helicopter can actually appear. We are so used to hearing them coming kilometers away, but when flown in tactical setting - hugging terrain and using both terrain features and foliage for cover, you get maybe just 10-15 seconds of warning before the helicopter is roping troops on top of you.

Happy to see the Legacy Hornet (F/A-18C) still rocking the solo display scene after all these years! The Finnish Air Force Hornet solo display finale features this spectacular wide barrel roll all the while shooting out flares. And I have missed seeing flares a lot over the past few years while I have been attending airshows on the other side of the the Atlantic.

Saab AJS 37 Viggen heaves itself off the ground to join up with a list of other historic and current Swedish aircraft to celebrate 100th anniversary of Swedish Air Force.

The word "awesome" does not even begin to describe the sight and feeling of witnessing these unique legends operate in close proximity. The distinctive thundering roar of the Viggen's Volvo RM8 engine is something that stuck with me.
