Today is my birthday. So for my last year in my 30s I thought I give all the thing I love about my life and the things I’m going to be more of.
I am childfree, but love my friends’ (and cousins’) kids. I’m gonna be that weird, rich aunty. I’m fiercely loyal to my friends. Always here for those unhinged support and intellectual violence (aka arguing).
I love working at the Renaissance Festival that I now travel for it too. It feeds my travel bug and gives me space for my creativity. I still get to work on my writing and business. Who doesn’t like to get paid to dress up, be weird, and not have to be nice to customers 100% of the time?
I am mixed race, the daughter of an immigrant (dad’s side). As we like to say, we are the United Nation of as****es. Once you’re in you’re stuck with us. We have all ethnicities in here Lao, white, black, Hispanic, Hmong, and many many more. Hell I can’t remember which ones are actually related by blood and who’s the cousin’s uncle’s neighbor’s best friend that just stuck around. If it isn’t clear, F**k ICE.
Mom had me and my brother young but always worked hard to make the best for us. She’s a great cook (lucky that both parents are) and yes she uses soap (she is a clean freak, in a good way). Always made sure I felt supported that we were not a burden as children.
I’m going to be going to so many more concerts (manifesting those BTS tickets). Traveling any chance I get, especially abroad. I’m going to keep learning new things, new languages. Reading hundreds of books, mangas, and manwhas.
My hibiscus plant is blooming again, even in the winter. I like to say as a little birthday for me. I’ve been growing this plant since college. My longest relationship. Someday I will get another dog. Here’s to another year of new things and exploring. Adventures and side quests. Being just as annoying as ever and living all out of spite.
