We’re still here, just been extremely busy this past year. We’ve definitely missed everyone.

Early Sunday morning we headed out to Gates Pass to catch the Geminids meteor shower and escape some of the city lights. J2 dusted off the Canon EOS 60D and her Rokinon 14mm f/2.8, and it felt really good to get the gear back out under the stars.

Even with passing clouds, it was one of those quiet, simple mornings that reminds us why we love doing this together.

We finally got to test out the Sky View XL Stargazing Tent from during a day trip to Mt. Lemmon, and it did not disappoint. The girls loved hanging out inside, and Jessica said it was the easiest tent she has ever set up and taken down.

The visibility through the mesh is incredible. From inside the tent, you can see the trees around you like there’s nothing between you and nature. It is spacious, breathable, and perfect for stretching out after a long hike or watching the night sky drift by while staying comfortable.

This tent is proudly made in Colorado, and the team at has been amazing to work with. They’ve truly thought of everything for stargazers and backcountry explorers alike.

More photos coming soon to show just how easy the setup was and how much we enjoyed it.

Jessica surprised me for Father’s Day with two day getaway to Mt Lemmon. We had a good time relaxing and escaping the heat. I love these guys so much. Thanks Jessica! Love you so much!

The rain cleared, and the clouds parted just in time for the lunar eclipse max last night! We managed to capture a single shot using ’s Canon and Sigma 150-600mm. Wish we had enough time to set up our star tracker and stack more shots, but we’re just grateful we got to see it!

The California Nebula (also known as NGC 1499) is an emission nebula in the Perseus constellation located one thousand light-years away from our driveway. This was a fun target to get back into the swing of things with. It’s been forever since we have been able to shoot deep space. This image is a combination of HA, OIII, SII, and RGB stars. Happy New Year everyone!

•SII: 113 exposures @ 40 seconds
•HA: 120 exposures @ 40 seconds
•OIII: 99 exposures @ 40 seconds
•R, G, B: 50 exposures on each filter (no calibration frames)
•1600 gain
•50 each dark, dark flats, and flats for calibration frames
•Equipment: Celestron CPC 1100, Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro, Hyperstar Reducer, and QHY294M Pro
