Our documentary film production is winding down at Pearson's Falls & Glen as we capture the final phase of their historic restoration project. Hurricane Helene unleashed its wrath on the waterfall and throughout the glen in 2024. The restoration project has been meticulously managed by the Tryon Garden Club, owners of the botanical preserve. With an eye squarely on conservation, Pearson's Falls & Glen plans to reopen Summer 2026.

This view was stunning! Prior to Hurricane Helene, Lightner's Ledge was a feature along the walking trail leading to the historic Chase Bridge at Pearson's Falls & Glen. Lightner's Ledge was impacted by the storm, which reshaped C**t Creek, which now flows alongside of Lightner's Ledge. The ledge is part of the scenic, historic glen maintained by the Tryon Garden Club.

This is a stunning new water feature at Pearson's Falls and Glen. The glen, in particular, has been completely renovated, complements of Hurricane Helene and Mother Nature! There are now walking trails on both sides of C**t Creek in some areas, giving visitors a more immersive experience walking the trails on their way the waterfall! As a filmmaker documenting this historic renovation project, I get a thrill photographing and sharing never-seen-before images with my drone!

When filmmaking is your gift, why not share it with others? Terry and I are mentoring advanced language arts students at Polk County Middle School in the art of filmmaking. Their goal is to submit their films to TRIFF 2026 and our goal is to support them in their journey. We believe that passing on philanthropic values ensures that the spirit of giving creates a ripple effect of positive change that endure across generations.

As visual storytellers filming the restoration of Pearson's Falls and Glen post Hurricane Helene, we are in awe of the Tryon Garden Club's commitment to honoring their mission to "preserve and protect" this unique botanical preserve and waterfall in Polk County, NC. Janice Fishman and Andy Ruff are the 'human earthmovers' pictured here whose efforts ensure the fragile ecosystem in the natural preserve are not destroyed but supported during the restoration process.

More than 12 months after Hurricane Helene, a small, mini excavator has finally reached the upper falls to begin restoration work in that area of Pearson's Falls and Glen. A mountain of debris at the base of the waterfall was caused by a massive landslide and boulders as large as boxcars, hurled over the falls and throughout the glen resulting in massive flood damage to the primary feature of the natural attraction in Polk County, NC.

PROJECT UPDATE: We are delighted to announce our film project for Tryon Garden Club at Pearson's Falls and Glen has been extended! Over the past 10 months we have witnessed a "rebirth" of sorts of this unique botanical preserve. Restoration efforts adhere to their mission to Preserve and Protect this top natural attraction in Polk County, NC. Pinch in on this image to discover not only the extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, but of the painstaking measures that are taking place to ensure the preservation of Pearson's Falls and Glen today and for generations to come.
