Tonight I attended Holy Mass at St. Margaret Mary Parish - Shelton, CT for the 50th Anniversary of the Church Building's Dedication. It was a great joy to join this warm, welcoming, and vibrant parish community for this wonderful occasion.

Following the Mass, Fr. Tim Iannacone, the Administrator of the parish, blessed the portraits of Fr. Philip Brady and Msgr. Thomas Whalen. Both Fr. Brady and Msgr. Whalen were longtime pastors, who served the parish with great faith, humility, holiness, and love for the people of God. Now with their portraits being blessed and hung within the parish church, they take their rightful place in the history of St. Margaret Mary Church.

Praying that St. Margaret Mary Parish makes it to 100 years of spreading the Gospel and providing the Sacraments of the Church to its parishioners and community.

Doctors at Gemelli Hospital removed a cancerous tumor from Pope Leo XIV’s right lung, according to the Holy See Press Office. The surgery was successful, with no complications, and the Holy Father has returned to his hospital room.
We ask the faithful to continue praying for Pope Leo’s recovery and for the doctors and staff caring for him. We also hold in prayer all who are living with cancer, their families, and those who care for them.

Today, the Vatican will stream a Rosary at 6 p.m. Rome time led inside Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, as Pope Leo XIV prepares for surgery. Parishes and religious communities across the world are invited to join in prayer for the Holy Father.

Today, the Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Known for several centuries as “Our Lady of Victory,” the feast day takes place in honor of a 16th century naval victory which secured Europe against Turkish invasion. Pope St. Pius V attributed the victory in the Battle of Lepanto to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was invoked on the day of the battle through a campaign to pray the Rosary throughout Europe.

Who are the three archangels? The three archangels whom the Church honors by name are St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael. They are also the only three angels who are mentioned by name in Sacred Scripture. The feast of all three Archangels is September 29. In the traditional calendar, this was St. Michael’s Feast day, with St. Gabriel’s being March 24 and St. Raphael’s being October 24. Discover more about the Archangels:
