I don't want to go to work today.
Someone close to me is walking through one of life's unimaginable moments, and all I want to do is sit beside her and mourn. It's been a heavy week, and if I'm honest, it feels wrong to smile.
But I'll be there.
You'll never know it. I'll laugh, I'll smile, and I'll do my job well.
I want you to have these moments. I know how important they are.
When people say a small business owner is "too expensive" or that they "cost an arm and a leg," can I share something with you?
You're not just paying for a product or a service.
You're paying for someone who shows up.
As the sole owner, I don't have anyone to replace me when life happens.
My calendar is booked more than a year in advance. I promise you a day of my life long before I know what that season will hold.
I've worked...
• 41 weeks pregnant
• Three days after giving birth
• On my daughter's first birthday
• While close family members were in the hospital
• Right after reading my grandfather's eulogy
• When I've gone through personal loss
I've missed countless celebrations, birthdays, gatherings, and milestones with friends and family.
For wedding photographers, this hits especially hard. We work weekends, when everyone else is making memories, celebrating, and gathering with the people they love.
I don't share this for sympathy.
I share it because today my heart feels heavy.
BUT... I also carry something else....Faith.
A faith not everyone understands or believes, but it has created a peace in my life that reminds me that this earth is temporary. Pain is temporary. Grief is real, but it is not forever. And eternity is coming.
So today, to my sweet friend, please know that while I'm behind the camera, my heart is with you.
I am praying for you.
I am thinking of you.
And I am trusting that God is holding you close, even in the moments that feel impossible.
