Yesterday our baby turned 9 months old‼️We’ve been working on some great projects as a family and I realized I haven’t shared in a while. (I also have hermit tendencies.) It’s easy to get busy and fall out of touch with people and I’d like to get better at not doing that! Life’s been quite an exciting adventure and it is happening at light speed. Josie is climbing over furniture and getting into everything 🤗 She loves playing in kiddie and adult size pools and creeks. Rain dog is her favorite animal. She loves fruit and vegetables, her parents, and running in her walker. She naps like a champion, her smiles brighten the room, she is still the most beautiful thing her Mama and Dada have ever seen and we are SO excited for this life! ✨

Father’s Day weekend was spent together in the mountains and the beach and this was my only photo! 🤭 But Josie Mae’s first word was Dada, which developed over the last week - what a great gift for my husband on his first Father’s Day ♥️
We saw maybe millions of Matilija Poppies, Scotch Broom, a bunch of rabbits and a few blooming Yuccas all the way to Lockwood Valley. Many areas that are recovering from the burn look like skeleton forest with a green carpet underneath. The last time we went up this way was a year before the Thomas Fire, in the snow ❄️ with both dogs and no baby. Always full of magic, the beautiful backcountry... so many memories in these mountains, one of the places that always feels like home.

I love the way the light falls upon her cherub like face.
🌚🌝
Do you read the light or the shadow? Like a camera, you have a lens through which you see the world, and you expose for the light or the darkness. It changes what you see and how you see the world. If you expose for the shadows you cannot see what is in the light. If you expose for the light you cannot see what the shadows hold. Knowing you have a choice and being able to do both is seeing. It all exists - anything you can think of exists. What you look at, what you expose for, will change your experience of the world. The world has great beauty, great sadness, great depths like the deep blue sea. Deeper than the highest mountain is high. I’m trying to see the world through the eyes of a child, who is born innocent and then by exposure, like a photograph, she develops into her Self, watching and interacting with the world she is given until the day she is on her own. That’s all of us. One day we are no longer children and we stand on our own two feet and look at the world from our own two eyes. This is just a snapshot, but she is my masterpiece.
