Meet Miko. 🐾

Miko prefers the term "selectively enthusiastic about strangers."

You see, Miko has a lot of opinions. The mail carrier? Suspicious. The guy walking down the street? Needs further investigation. A new person entering the house? Please hold while Miko conducts a thorough background check.

But here's the thing...

Sometimes the dogs who bark the loudest aren't trying to be difficult. They're trying to feel safe.

Miko lost the person he loved when his owner passed away. His whole world changed overnight. So yes, he can be cautious. Yes, he comes with a built-in security system. And yes, he may greet new people like he's auditioning for a role as a tiny dragon.

But once you're in his circle? You're IN.

This little Velcro dog wants nothing more than to be close to his people. He loves walks, toys, playing with his dog friends, and spending time with the humans he trusts. Give him a little patience, a few treats, and a chance to realize you're one of the good guys, and you'll discover that beneath all that spice is a dog with a huge heart.

The right home won't see Miko as "too much."

They'll see him as a dog who has been through a lot and is still willing to love again.

And honestly? That's pretty sweet for a spicy little guy. ❤️

Meet Muffin. 🧁

Yes, her name is Muffin.
No, she is not a delicate little baked good.

She’s more like a slightly squished potato mixed with a bulldozer and wrapped in the soul of your favorite grandma.

Muffin has been with Underdog Rescue Ranch since October, and despite everything she’s been through, she wakes up every single day acting like life is the greatest thing ever invented. Snacks? Amazing. Belly rubs? Incredible. Humans? Obsessed with them.

This sweet girl came into rescue severely neglected — scars on her head, cropped ears, painful teeth, and covered in masses. Even after learning she has an enlarged heart and cancerous masses, Muffin’s response has basically been:
“Okay… but do you happen to have treats?”

And honestly? That’s iconic behavior.

She’s looking for a hospice adopter — someone willing to give her the love, comfort, snacks, soft beds, and couch privileges she deserves for however long she has left. Muffin doesn’t need pity. She needs a person. A best friend. A roommate who understands that healing sometimes looks like sharing snacks and watching TV together.

She does need to be the only pet in the home, but with the amount of love packed into this chunky little meatball, she’s all the animal you’ll ever need.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a truly life-changing difference for a dog, this is your girl. Muffin deserves to know what it feels like to be someone’s whole world. ❤️

¡Sorpresa! 🇪🇸

I’ve been a little quiet because… I’m currently in Spain! While yes, there has been a tiny bit of vacation mixed in, the real reason I’m here is to volunteer with Galgos del Sol — an absolutely incredible rescue dedicated to helping galgos and podencos who have endured unimaginable hardship.

Over the last few days, I’ve had the honor of helping care for their dogs, learning from the amazing volunteers here, and witnessing firsthand just how much love and dedication goes into saving these beautiful souls. ❤️

Nugget is so serious he looks like he personally denied your PTO request.

So serious he definitely reminds the teacher there was homework.
So serious he sits on the porch judging your lawn care decisions.
So serious he looks like he pays taxes early… for fun.

But behind that stoic little face? He’s just a soft senior boy who wants sunshine, snacks, comfy couches, and someone to love him forever. 🥹

Nugget came by for photos and was such a trooper, even though you could tell he was nervous and shy. He tried so hard to be brave, and honestly? It just made us love him more.

This handsome 8-year-old gentleman is house trained, well-mannered, loves walks, enjoys his toys, and is basically a professional sunbather. He’d likely do best as your one-and-only pet so he can soak up ALL the love — which, frankly, he deserves.

And the best part? Nugget’s adoption fee has been sponsored, so he has NO FEE to an approved home.

Please help this serious-faced sweetheart find the soft landing he’s been waiting for. ❤️

From the pitch to the adoption couch 🐾⚽️

A few weeks ago, we headed to Keyworth Stadium with a pack of adoptable pups, tiny football kits, and one big goal — helping these dogs get seen and hopefully find the loving homes they deserve.

What started as a fun footballer-themed photo day turned into something even better… some of these dogs have ALREADY been adopted!!! 🥹🎉 Very exciting! A few are still looking though and we will continue to share their stories!

There is truly nothing better than watching creative ideas turn into second chances for shelter dogs. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, supported the project, shared the photos, and cheered these pups on.

And a huge thank you to my incredibly talented friend and fellow pet photographer Patti for jumping in and making the day even more fun ❤️📸

Two very special girls at Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center need out ASAP. 💔

Bebe (6) and Katie (4) have spent far too long in an overcrowded shelter environment, and the stress of shelter life is taking a toll. While they can be separated, they find comfort in each other and have been navigating all of this side by side.

Both girls have Megaesophagus, which means they require a special feeding routine, medication, patience, and lots of love. They even come with their feeding chairs. 😊

These dogs are not broken. They simply need someone willing to give them the compassion and consistency they deserve. Dogs with medical needs are so often overlooked, but they are still worthy of safety, comfort, and a forever home.

Both are sterilized, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Please consider opening your home, fostering, rescuing, or even sharing their story to help them reach the right person. Time in the shelter is especially hard on dogs with extra medical needs. RESCUE PLACEMENT WOULD BE AMAZING!!

It’s been just over a year since we lost our dog, Boomer, to cancer. To mark the anniversary, we spent the day the way he would’ve loved most — extra long walks with our resident pups, followed by ice cream cones at the Brown Dog Barlor where we raised our cones in a little “cheers” to Boomer and all the adventures we shared with him. ❤️

Losing him taught us firsthand just how much cancer sucks. It also opened our eyes to the heartbreaking reality that cancer is one of the leading causes of death for our best friends.

So as we begin another year missing our Boogs, we also learned that our good friend, local celebrity and everyone’s favorite good boy, Bobby the
— has been diagnosed with cancer too.

Bobby is the definition of cool: fun, lovable, and the chillest dude around. And if there’s one thing we know, it’s that he’s going to face this fight with courage and heart.

In support of the Canine Cancer Alliance we wanted to share some of our favorite photos of this amazing boy and ask everyone to send pawsitive vibes his way as he begins chemo and heads into a treatment plan laid out by his oncology team.

Please also send love and strength to his human, Tommy, and to all of the family and friends who love Bobby and are fighting right alongside him. 💛🐾

Some dogs are fighters. Some dogs are teammates. Cubby is both. 💙⚽️

A few weeks ago, Cubby proudly repped the “away side” (AFC Ann Arbor) during our visit at Keyworth, and honestly? He played the role perfectly: scrappy, resilient, full of heart, and impossible not to root for.

Just like any great football story, Cubby’s journey hasn’t been easy. After surviving a devastating lawn mower accident as a tiny puppy, he fought his way back with the kind of courage you can’t teach. These days, he’s more interested in winning battles against sprinklers, collecting belly rubs, and finding his forever teammates.

Cubby is looking for a calm, loving home where he can finally hang up the road kit and know he’s been permanently signed. He’s loyal, goofy, brave, and ready to give his whole heart to the right people.

Sending lots of luck to the AFC Ann Arbor women’s team in today’s match against Detroit City FC — especially our friend on the coaching staff. Cubby Cadet and RLP are cheering you on from the sidelines. 💙
