Unity ceremony

One of my favorite things to do when we were living in Columbia, SC was walk the Lake Murray bridge. At the end of the bridge was a stretch of fence where couples would put love locks. Before we moved Cory and I placed a lock on the bridge! So, for our unity ceremony at the wedding we decided once again to combine two locks as one as a symbol of our infinite bond to one another.

The First Look

When I saw the beautiful grand staircase I knew that’s where I wanted to have our first look. This special moment was a dream come true and a moment we will cherish forever 🤍

Unfortunately, last week Cory lost his Grandmother Rowe. Luckily we were in town a few days before she passed and she was able to see our wedding bands and hear about the wedding.

We traveled to Tennessee for her funeral yesterday, and in honor of her and all of our amazing grandparents, some of which are no longer with us, and others who we are so lucky were able to make the trip, I wanted to post about one of the most special parts of our reception, the “all because two people fell in love” table. We had fun pictures of our parents, grandparents, and even some great grandparents as a tribute to the fate and love over the years that has now brought Cory and I together!

Yesterday was also a special day because it was the day my name was legally changed from Shelby Schultz to Shelby Rowe. Cory’s Dad said “we lost a Rowe, but we gained another.” So thankful to be apart of such amazing families!

Something Old

My “something old” was very meaningful and had us all tearing up at the dress fitting! Twenty two years ago I was the flower girl in my aunt and uncles wedding. My great grandmother was a seamstress and she custom sewed my flower girl dress. The back of the dress had a beautiful line of buttons. It turns out my wedding dress had that same beautiful line of buttons, and they were almost an exact match! So, Attelé Bridal Boutique took the top couple of buttons off of my wedding dress and replaced them with the buttons from the flower girl dress I wore 22 years ago. Talk about making us all feel old! It was so special knowing I had those buttons with me on my special day, and who knows, maybe they will be passed down again one day!

Also, peep the missing front tooth. I believe I was told “absolutely do not pull that out before the wedding,” by mom. Guess I really wanted that tooth fairy money! 🤷🏼‍♀️🧚‍♂️🦷

Detail post #1, the shoes that didn’t quite make it to the ceremony…

After going up and down several staircases and running around for first looks those ribbons just did not want to stay tied. Finally on the third re tie I told Mom to tie them as tight as she could and double knot them. Fast forward to Dad and I walking to our location to hide out for the start of the ceremony and pop, my shoe broke! So what did we do!? Kicked them off, Dad threw them in the corner of the hotel lounge never to be seen again, took a shot of tequila, and off we marched to the isle!

I went the rest of the day barefoot and let’s just say the next day I had to take a power washer to the bottom of my feet to get them clean 😂

After a long (depressing) week of being back to cold gray skies, work, laundry, and cleaning up all of our wedding items, I am finally ready to sit down and embark on the journey of editing and creating our wedding album!

I was struggling to decide what avenue we wanted to go down with hiring a wedding photographer (do we fly someone in, do we use the resort photographer) and then I thought well heck, I’ve got the gear and have always wanted to shoot a wedding, why not test it out on our own! 😅

Before we left I spent an afternoon with a chaotic little set up in our living room amid packing, getting all of our detail shots squared away.

We had the task of figuring out if any of our guests with a creative eye would be willing to learn how to use my camera and snap photos of us during the day. The first person that came to mind was our friend Emily Turbyfill and when she said yes it was a huge relief! And boyyy did she deliver! Emily snapped into photographer mode and you would have thought she had been photographing weddings for years! I jumped in to capture a few shots here and there but for the most part emily was right there capturing every detail and for that I will be forever grateful (free photo sessions for you for life Emily 😉)

So over the next couple of weeks I plan to take y’all on our magical wedding journey showcasing all of our most cherished details and moments of the big day! 🤍
