A Day Late, But Worth Celebrating 📷

Yesterday was World Photography Day, and while I may be a day late, I couldn’t let it pass without sharing one of my favorite recent images.

This weathered conch shell caught my eye because of everything it has been through. Seashells are beautiful when they are smooth and perfect, but I find something even more captivating in the ones scarred by the sea.

The nooks. The cracks. The chips. The worn edges.

Every mark tells a little story. And even in the damage, there is strength. There is beauty. There is character.

Photography has a way of reminding me to slow down and really look at the things around me. Beauty doesn’t have to be flawless to be worth noticing. Sometimes, the imperfections are what make us stop and look a little longer.

Happy belated World Photography Day. Here’s to finding beauty in the details, the weathered edges, and everything in between.

This was absolutely an amazing and rewarding experience! I learned that there were 420 entries from 25 different states!! And my photograph was 1 of 106 chosen to be in this show!
I didn’t win but this experience has my inspiration juices flowing! I loved seeing my work next to sooo many amazing pieces of art! 📸❤️🩷🥰
It was also a wonderful surprise to see a fellow WCHS classmate art on show!

I am incredibly honored and excited to have my work included in the upcoming 2026 Bank of the Arts National Juried Exhibition at the Craven Arts Council & Gallery in New Bern, NC.

Join us this Friday, August 14th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for the opening reception and an evening celebrating creativity and artistic expression. You'll find an amazing collection of artwork on display, including jewelry, paintings, photography, sculptures, and much more.

Sometimes the simplest subjects tell the most beautiful stories. 🌸✨

These two blooms, a graceful white and purple lily and a delicate pink and white dianthus, reminded me that beauty doesn't need elaborate settings. With just a single light source, every petal, shadow, and detail becomes the focus. No busy backgrounds. No distractions. Just light, texture, and nature doing what it does best.

Photography isn't always about grand landscapes or smiling faces. Sometimes it's about slowing down long enough to appreciate the quiet elegance of a single flower.

I’m so excited! 🎉 My piece is officially matted, framed, and ready for drop-off at the Craven Arts Council & Gallery Bank of the Arts Art Show!

There’s something special about seeing a photograph go from an idea behind the camera to a finished piece ready to hang on a gallery wall. I can’t wait to see all of the incredible artwork from so many talented local artists. Wishing everyone participating the very best!
