The Cedar Waxwing is one of the coolest birds in the area. The mask, subtle red on the wings, and the vibrant yellow tipped tail complement each other beautifully!!
They are also a very tolerant bird that allows me to get close with the big lens to really show the feather detail.

Looking back through the archives from The Wild West Days Bulls and Barrels event in Viroqua.
I loved this image and found another one as well from that ride. The air this bull gets is impressive. What's more impressive was a few seconds before these photos, this guy had more air between his butt and the bulls back that it looked like the ride was going to end pretty quick. However, true grit, determination, and strength got him back to the middle and finished a heck of a nice ride!

After the training run this morning, I went back home and grabbed the camera.
Taking a break from the rodeo editing since I deleted the card and I needed some new material.
Walking along the trails, birds are chirping everywhere, and wildflowers are blooming as well.
I took a few pics of this one and then decided to play with some "creative" editing. I could also do a normal edit as well.
What do you think of this style?

Little Britches of Wisconsin Rodeo last call for photo requests for G**s Mills on Saturday. Unfortunately, I don't have the storage capacity to keep photos for very long.

If still interested, let me know. Thank you!

Less than a month before I venture back to the Western skies for a much needed mental therapy break.
There's just something about the wide open spaces where you can see for miles. Time slows down, the mind relaxes, and peace settles in.

Little Britches of Wisconsin Rodeo Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association
This is a post I really hoped I wouldn't have to do, but unfortunately, it is.
First, let me give gratitude and appreciation to those who have legally and morally purchased photos over the last 3 years at both High School and LBW rodeos. You all kept the dream alive and made me feel like my work was something you could look at and be reminded of each rodeo as well as the changes your child had made over the years.
However, what brings me to post this is the other side of the coin. People who requested more photos with no intention of purchasing. Those who take the watermarked photos and post them.
As a photographer, we spend HOURS at the rodeos capturing these photos. Then spend even more hours behind the computer culling photos and then editing them to bring out the best shots of the events. I have sent edited proofs to individuals, sometimes up to 12 additional photos than what was posted only to never hear from them again. Using a watermarked photo without permission from the photographer is theft. I understand life gets busy at times and people forget, but it happens too often.
I will say, there is a trend. If it's the parent requesting the photos, it happens very rarely. When it is the rider, that's when the trend really shows.
I am now in the dilemma of just not doing rodeos anymore, or doing what others have done and request a deposit and only focus on a few people.
I really wish I could do this for free because I absolutely love photographing rodeos, but I just can't do that. My camera, lenses, and time are valuable and I was just looking for some compensation for my time.
Thank you all for understanding my stance on this matter.
Hope everyone has a great season and makes some great memories of the 2026 season!!

Little Britches of Wisconsin Rodeo Here are a select few from the Sr goats on Saturday in G**s Mills.

This will be the last of the galleries from that event.

Thank you to those who have purchased, tagged, and shared my photos.

Little Britches of Wisconsin Rodeo Cowboy Lifesavers, Grabbing the Bull by the Horns, many different titles could go to this picture, but one thing stands out for me.
The bullfighters do such a great job in getting in the right position to protect the riders as best as they can. Stepping in the path of the bulls to redirect them is something not many will do willingly, but these guys do. Bull riders have to deal with one bull, bull fighters are there for every rider in the go round. Somedays nothing needs to be done, and other days, they are working hard to do what they do best. Thanks to the bullfighters!!!
