I can have trouble sometimes making strong images on clear days where clouds can’t help me make a scene more interesting. I luckily found these branches to help frame and lead the eye to the Big Sable Lighthouse. While working on the edit, it really made me feel like it was an image made with Patagonia in mind, with their tree branches leading to the mountains.

• Winter Rift •

What a night this was! Amazing light, amazing clouds, amazing location. What more could you ask for! I ventured on the north breakwall across all the ice that had built up from recent winter storms get close to our lighthouse to begin shooting a timelapse sequence for my project. There was just enough wind to keep the clouds moving but not enough to keep me from getting a stable shot. Not big on shooting in the winter but nights like this I won’t miss!

Took this 2 years ago today. We have had much more snow this year compared to the last few years. It’s been a tough winter where the magic light has been scarce and the urge to shoot has been reduced greatly. Just looking forward to spring vibes along the lakeshore with magic light.
