Autumn’s Golden Farewell at French Valley 🍂

Where Autumn Whispers 🍂

In the rolling hills between Cedar and Maple City, autumn paints the countryside in shades of amber and gold.

Beneath a sky of soft blue-gray, a gentle white horse grazes in quiet contentment, as though time itself has slowed to savor the season.

Here, where the maples blaze and the earth rests beneath a tapestry of color, Northern Michigan whispers its most beautiful autumn poetry.

Autumn’s Northern Lights 🍁✨

As autumn sets the water ablaze with ribbons of crimson, amber, and gold, a lone swan drifts through a world painted in light.

Like the Northern Lights fallen from the heavens, the colors dance upon the ripples, turning the lake into a shimmering canvas of earthly magic.

For a fleeting moment, the sky seems to have found its reflection not in the stars, but in the quiet beauty of autumn. ❤️

🍁 Where the Farm Meets the Forest 🍂

There’s something about fall on Old Mission Peninsula… the neat rows of apple trees stretching toward the hardwood hills, the maples glowing red and gold, and those big October skies rolling in off the bay. It’s a place where generations of farming meet the beauty of Northern Michigan’s forests, and autumn feels right at home.

Just another reason we love this little stretch of land between the bays. 🍁

October 28th… and it’s still a beach day! ☀️🌊

Who says beach season has to end with summer? A beautiful late-October day at Haserot Beach on Old Mission Peninsula. Sometimes autumn gives us a little taste of summer. 🍂💙

And incidentally, her mother and sister were actually in the water swimming! Not bad for October 28th in Northern Michigan! 🏊‍♀️

Autumn Under Moody Skies 🍁

There’s something magical about fall on Old Mission Peninsula. Rows of vineyards stretch across the rolling hills, brilliant autumn colors light up the landscape, and dramatic clouds gather over the bay.

And if you look closely, three birds are making their way across the sky.

One of those fleeting moments when the beauty of Northern Michigan takes your breath away and when your soul becomes filled with joy.

Autumn Under a Stormy Sky

From Industry to Nature — Boardman Lake, Traverse City

One of Traverse City’s wonderful transformations is the area surrounding Boardman Lake. Once largely industrial, much of this waterfront has been reclaimed as a beautiful recreational space for everyone to enjoy.

This bridge, part of the TART trail system, crosses the Boardman River near its connection to Boardman Lake, offering lovely views of the water and surrounding landscape.

Today, the lake is alive with activity. Swans glide gracefully across the water, birds gather along the shoreline, and turtles bask in the sunshine. Rowers enjoy the peaceful waters while walkers and cyclists explore the trail that winds around the lake.

The Traverse Area District Library, located along the northern shore, adds another wonderful dimension to this special place.

What was once an industrial landscape has become a gathering place for people and wildlife alike — a beautiful example of how a community can reconnect with nature.

Another reason to love Traverse City!

A Little White Barn Beneath the Dunes 🍂

One of three charming barns at D.H. Day Farm in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Autumn colors frame this historic beauty, while in the distance, tiny figures of hikers make their way up the sandy dunes. It’s a wonderful contrast — a quiet piece of Michigan’s farming history in the foreground and the adventure of Sleeping Bear Dunes unfolding behind it.

A little bit of history, a little bit of autumn, and a whole lot of northern Michigan beauty.
