Is there any cure for IPF? The only cure is a lung transplant and that is why I posted this information today. After a long, process of testing me to see if I was a candidate for a transplant, I received notice yesterday from The Cleveland Clinic that I'd been put on their transplant "list" meaning that as lungs become available that fit my needs, I'll be on the list for a transplant. It couple be just a few weeks, or as long as a few months but I have to be ready 24-7 and be within 2 hours of Cleveland, Ohio when the call comes.

What is Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis(IPF)? Pulmonary Fibrosis is where healthy lung tissue turns into stiff, hard, scar tissue, unable to process the air you breath. It is a progressive disease and unfortunately is often mis-diagnosed until it has made substantial progression. In many cases including mine, most patients have a life-expectancy of about 2 years from that diagnosis. My doctor told me in June 2020 I had about a year, so I'm following that pattern.

Well, we just entered the final month of a totally crazy year. Since I haven't seen many of you face-to-face, you may not know I'm ill with a lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis(IPF). I got the diagnosis in September 2019 by my Toledo Pulmonologist, who then informed me he was retiring. I then moved my care to the best place in the US for Interstitial Lung Diseases, the Cleveland Clinic. Unfortunately, having the best and brightest doctors doesn't change the disease and all the Interstitial Lung diseases, including IPF are BAD! Trying to keep this short, I'll write a couple of more short posts about the disease and pin them here at McKnight Family Photography Adventures.

Our Friday Feature is Begguya! Begguya is the Dena’ina name of this mountain, which means child (of Denali). The common name used is Mt. Hunter. Standing at 14,573 feet is impressive on its own, but often gets overshadowed by its tall neighbors. Begguya is considered one of the most difficult 14,000 foot mountains to climb and gets much less traffic than Denali does. We are dreaming of open river water and clear skies here in Talkeetna!
Who knows where its name ‘Hunter’ comes from?
