I love a tiny amber dropper bottle as much as the next person, but herbalism doesn’t have to live on an apothecary shelf. It can literally just be dumping dried herbs into a pot of bone broth on your stove.

Culinary staples like garlic, black peppercorn, thyme, oregano, and sage bring warming immune support and flavor. But tossing dried nutritive herbs into the pot turns a basic mug of broth into liquid gold for pregnancy and postpartum recovery:

Stinging Nettle: Nature’s multivitamin. Packed with iron, calcium, and minerals to rebuild depleted blood volume and combat deep fatigue.

Oatstraw: Nervous system food. Rich in magnesium and silica to take the sharp edge off an overtired, overstimulated body.

Red Clover: Internal tissue repair. Loaded with trace minerals that support the lymphatic system and help stretched tissues knit back together.

Sip it from a mug, cook your rice in it, or freeze a few jars right now so your postpartum self has actual minerals waiting instead of lukewarm toast.

Keep it simple. Sometimes the best medicine is just a warm pot of w**d broth simmering on the stove.

There is no "right" way to navigate a loss, and no timeline on carrying love forward.

Tonight we light a candle to remember them all: the early beginnings, the late losses, the quiet farewells, and every chapter in between.

May tonight bring a moment of softness and gentle comfort. You are never walking this alone.

"Well, back in my day, I had zero help and was vacuuming two days later!"

Cool story, ma'am. That sounds awful, and we are not doing that anymore.

Suffering through postpartum alone is not an Olympic event, and struggling in isolation is definitely not a flex. You just grew and birthed an entire human. You do not need to bounce back or prove you can do it all solo.
Healing counts as doing something.

Soaking your feet in warm herbs while someone else washes the dishes is not slacking off. It is the bare minimum you deserve.

Rest is productive. Recovery is work.

Let's normalize being shamelessly taken care of instead.

What is the wildest unsolicited advice a relative has ever given you after having a baby?

If a medically necessary induction is on the table, take a breath. It does not mean losing control of your birth. An induction is still your birth, and you have plenty of choices at every single turn.

Medical induction usually happens in stages: softening your cervix first, and then encouraging regular contractions.

For cervical ripening, providers often start with prostaglandins as a pill or vaginal insert. While effective, they can sometimes cause nausea, fever, or uterine tachysystole, which is when contractions come too close together without enough rest. A Foley balloon is another common option that stretches the cervix open mechanically, though the placement and pressure can bring on intense cramping.

From there, your care team might suggest breaking your water (an amniotomy). This allows baby's head to press directly against your cervix to encourage natural progress, but it also means a timer starts on labor and exams, and contractions often pick up intensity right away.

Then comes Pitocin, a synthetic oxytocin given through an IV to bring on steady waves. Because it does not cross into the brain to release your body's natural endorphins, Pitocin contractions can build fast and feel noticeably stronger than spontaneous labor waves.

The most important thing to remember is that you do not have to accept every intervention at once. You have choices. You can ask for a low and slow Pitocin drip. You can decline or delay breaking your water. You can ask for unhurried time between steps to let your body catch up.

Here are four questions to help you navigate those choices:

What is my Bishop score right now, and what method makes the most sense for my body?

What are the specific benefits and risks of using prostaglandins versus a Foley balloon?

Can we hold off on breaking my water or start Pitocin at the lowest possible dose?

What happens if we take a pause, monitor baby, and wait a bit before taking the next step?

You are never an inconvenience for asking questions. Take up space, gather the information you need, and make decisions that feel grounded to you.

Kind words | Client love

Inviting someone into your birth and postpartum space takes immense trust. It is an honor I never take lightly, and hearing back from families after baby arrives always grounds me in why this work matters so much.

Every birth looks different, whether you are planning an unmedicated physiological birth or preparing for a scheduled cesarean. My hope is always the same: that you feel completely safe, informed, and respected through every single step.

Work with Ash | Doula support at The Wild Womb

Advocacy has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Serving on our local s*x education advisory board and fundraising with our community reproductive access fund grounded me in a core truth: everyone deserves bodily autonomy, honest education, and barrier-free access to care.

Then came my own birth experiences.

If there is one thing my own births engraved on my heart, it is that a birth simply being "fine" is not nearly enough. You deserve to feel heard, fiercely respected, and held through every wave. Healthy parent and healthy baby is the bare minimum, not the goalpost. How you feel while bringing life into the world stays with you forever.

When we work together, my role is to help you quiet the noise so you can connect with your own inner knowing. We explore the evidence, practice hands-on comfort tools, and prepare both you and your partner for the real rhythms of labor. In the birth room, I bring a calm, steady presence that protects your birth bubble and anchors you in your strength.

That care naturally extends into how we nourish your body before and after baby arrives. Plant medicine and botanical remedies have been everyday staples in my own family for years. Bringing that plant wisdom to my clients is one of my favorite parts of this work. Simple botanical rituals like sipping an intentional tea, soaking tired feet, or pausing with gentle aromatics give you a tangible reason to slow down, nourish your nervous system, and rest.

Every support package includes unhurried prenatal visits, on-call labor presence from the moment you call, and restorative postpartum visits to help you gently transition into life with your baby.

If you are looking for support that honors your intuition, your rights, and your sacred postpartum rest, I would love to connect.
