One Lane Road Photography by Kellie Walls Sharpe All landscape photos are taken in East Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. My name is Kellie Sharpe. There's a softness about them..

I've spent all of my life here in East Tennessee. I've lived in these mountains or, in their foothills, all my life. The Smokies are famous for having visitors turn into residents, and there's a reason for that....once you form a love for them, they become a part of who you are...part of your soul. leaving them would be like leaving part of yourself. a kindness about them. To me they're like an ol

d friend who's kept secret every part of my life which I've sat in their lap and whispered. They've allowed my babies to run and play in their coves and, they've allowed them to sleep at night to their cool breezes they send sweeping down to their foothills. My kids have learned to drive on the one lane roads of Cades Cove and, I promised to marry the love of my life while standing on the highest peak you can drive to in the snow. The river's current taught my boys to swim and, it did the same for their Dad, their uncles, and their Papaw too. My family is East Tennessee.. we are, and always will be, a part of the Smokies. My hope is that this page gives this amazing place, and God who created it, the credit they deserve. OneLaneRoadPhotography.Com

Hi everyone. I'm Kellie's oldest son, Justin:

It's with the heaviest of hearts that we must announce that our Mom, Kellie Walls Sharpe, passed away on April 25th, 2025.

Mom had a knack for finding the beautiful things around her, and her greatest talent, besides being the best mother, wife, and friend anyone could ever imagine, was sharing the beautiful things she saw with the world. Through her photos and her writing, she made the beauty of Appalachia real, to many who have and who haven't visited or lived here.

What many may not know, is that was never the point of this page. Mom told us a long time ago that One Lane Road Photography wasn't necessarily where she wanted to share her photos with the world, but was a gift for her kids; myself, Josh, Jack, and Hannah. It was a way for us to always know that our Mom was seeing beautiful things, even after we were out in the world living our lives, and for one day, when she was no longer here with us, to remember all the grandeur she took in, even in our own backyard.

This page will remain public for as long as Facebook is around, because it's important to all of us that her talent, and her memory, be shared with the world. I would also be remiss if I didn't remind the world that Deb Campbell was her best friend in the world, and this is also a place where you will see the evidence of so many of the wonderful experiences they had together.

At this time there are no plans for services, Mom didn't want one. We are asking, if you feel so led, to make a donation to offset the cost of her final expenses. Mom will be cremated, and her remains will be spread among the Great Smoky Mountains, her favorite place in the world.

We are so fortunate to have been loved by her. She was our guiding light, our friend, and someone who loved us immensely.

This post is for my grandson, Eli.
he's 11
We're sending him to Japan!
no, we're not sick of him lol. it's just an opportunity that's been presented and we're trying to make use of it.
that being said... the trip is in 2 years. they gave my son and daughter in law 2 whole years to pay for the trip because it's so expensive.
My daughter in law has set up a fund where donations can be made for his trip. he's a good kid, makes straight A's, and he doesn't cause the least bit of trouble. he's my favorite person.
i'm adding the link if anyone out there is in the position to be able to donate.. thank you!

The Most Perfect Eagle's Nest I've Ever Seen...
first and foremost, they're protected.. completely protected by the man who owns the land. he doesn't care who you are, you're not going out there. this includes me. he flat out shut me down lol.
you go, farmer dude. yay. and i mean that.
these eagles built where they have wide open fields to hunt.. can't stress wide open enough. it doesn't even look like it's East Tennessee. they built on a swamp that's fed by a grassy beaver creek. a wide, dependable, deep creek complete with all the animals that use it and ducks galore. the creek turns from a grassy creek into a wooded creek. like a little wood duck and hooded merganser free for all for eagles. this creek dumps into one of the most important creeks in this entire area and then that creek dumps into the Nolichucky. there's a large pond about 200 yards from their nest...it's creek fed so, there's fish and ducks there too. there's a large pond in the swamp itself and their nest is directly above it. it's farmland that floods in winter.. the wood frogs were deafening the other day.. frog leg buffet. they're also a 5 minute flight from the river, about the same for a very large lake.
it is absolute genius.
it's the smartest nest i've ever seen. and they've been there for years. the nest looks like a volkswagon sitting in a giant sycamore.
i can't explain what it does for me to sit there and look at the genius of it, and then to know they're so safe.
it's perfect
i've included some photos of just things i've found in the area. the whole area is getting ready to really flood this week. this is gonna be interesting.

Winter...
just some photos of some things i've seen this winter.
the snow and ice didn't last long but, i sure enjoyed it while it was here.
next up.. flooding rains. but, i really love it when this one creek here floods. it doesn't hurt anybody or anything when it does but i sure see a lot of weird things when it happens. and i see a lot of migratory ducks when it happens. the hard part is sitting home until the rain actually stops.
after that, winter is supposed to return for a while.
and then it'll be March, and here come the birds and wildflowers.
i'm getting very used to the way things work here...i'm learning what to expect from all these new places.
tomorrow i'm gonna go terrify myself by looking for eagle nests along a certain portion of the Nolichucky. even typing that sentence makes my heart pound hard. driving where the flood waters would have been 40-60 feet over my head will never feel ok for me, but there's no way to look for nests without being in these places.
it'll be an extra blood pressure pill kinda day. i can't wait.
