Anyone else loving the AWESOME images being taken with Nikon cameras on the Artemis II mission? Reminds me of why I went with all those years ago… durability and capability.

Over the winter, I was asked to do a shoot of Hank, an Irish Wolf Hound who's owners were seeking remembrance photos of him as he was soon to pass over the rainbow bridge. I believe this was the coldest day we had this winter so the shoot had to be indoors. Fortunately, I had the right equipment and I was able to get these photos with just one light in their living room.

Hank was such a good boy to work with and we even got a few shots of his sister Nola who was there for support. His owners and I were pleased with the results but I cannot still be sad that he is now with our dogs who are missing from our family. I hope they are all friends now.

Dog photography is a new aspect of my work and I'm looking forward to working more with the animals I love.

A juxtaposition here in this photo. A sign of spring with birds returning, yet winter is hanging in there in Vermont with a spring snow storm this afternoon. Shot from my back porch with the Z9 and the Sigma 500mm f4 DG, a new lens I acquired and am testing out before 'something serious' presents itself.

We all love looking at photos on screen but many believe the photographer is not done until the image is on paper. Spent some time recently printing images that I had taken last year while on Carova Beach, NC. Early morning light and these stallions were the stars of the show. They were all printed on my Canon USA Pro300 printer with the color images on Canon Pro Luster paper and the B&W one on Red River Paper Polar Matte. I’m my opinion there’s nothing like seeing your work finished on paper! PM if you’d like one of these on your wall.

These images were taken in 2013 during my first trip to Corolla, NC in the Outer Banks. I've been there several times since then and really enjoy taking pics of the banker horses who roam free on the beaches. These were taken with the Nikon D700 which I later sold and have now reacquired. Just adore the colors and tones that this camera produces. I produced a small book of images including these back then and gave them to family members. Looking at these bring good memories and I am enjoying how they look compared to my current work.

Out early on this cold February morning in Jeffersonville where I shot these as the sun was cresting the horizon and beginning to light the mountain. It was fleeting as the clouds you see to the right soon overtook the scene and the sun left us until late in the day. I cannot decide which of these I like better. They are two separate frames but the cropped version focuses on the mountain while the wider shot tells more of a story of the whole scene. Let me know which you prefer.

I shot these images over 10 years ago with a camera that came out in 2008, the Nikon . Back then, to upgrade to the newest, 'better' camera, I had to sell it... but I have one again! The first image, a .albanspd_vt cruiser, hung on my wall for many years on a large wall art printed on metal. Although I gave this away to a friend, I still love the image. The second was given to Colchester Rescue Squad for helping me. Both were produced with flash as I was learning through personal projects and I am looking back now with a smile.

Going back in the archives this week with photos from a shoot I did many years ago. I've been pulling out old images that I shot with a Nikon before I sold it. I was always sorry that I did and this past week, I bought one again along with a few old D lenses. Myself and many others have gone back to this 12 megapixel camera that was introduced in 2008 because of its lovely skin tones and colors that are produced. There's just something different about this camera. I'll be sharing more of these week.

Last week while I was in Tennessee for Imaging USA, I made some time to get over to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I only had a morning to be there but we were able to get into Cade's Cove despite a 'snow delay'. Its been 15 years since I've been there and last time was in the summer so this was like a new landscape. We saw a few turkey and some whitetail deer, including this impressive fella. He did not stick around long but gave a me a few frames including this one.
