"Love is in the Air"

We got to photograph this pair mate a couple times this afternoon before laying down for an afternoon rest. The cow showed affection each time rubbing her neck and the side of her face over his hind quarter. He bugled when they first came out of the woods but I didn't catch it on video. All in all, a great day in the Smoky Mountains with temps 49-71 degrees.

I got so far behind posting this summer. This is another shot from July 30 that my clients and I got during a Smoky Mountain Guided Tour. We locked on to this individual gathering several images of different head angles. This one was taken with the last light hitting the river before setting behind the western ridge.

In spring of this year I started planning a trip to Boston in order to photograph the Tall Ships arriving from around the world. Many hours were spent figuring travel, parking, lodging, shooting location and of course photo gear.

The final decision was to fly and arrive at Boston Logan Airport only 1.5 hours before the first ship came into harbor. I had just enough time to grab my bags at baggage claim, jump onto a shuttle to the car rental facility, choose my car, drive to a reserved parking spot, throw my gear into a backpack and walk out to a point on the East side of the harbor. This spot was picked to have the sun behind me in the likely chance it would be sunny.

The location was all I hoped it would be when I chose it a month prior. The sun lit the Tall Ships and especially the sails as they paraded past me. The other reason I chose this location was so that I could photograph the ships with the Boston skyline as a backdrop for each.

I had photographed Tall Ships before but always one at a time. This was a great opportunity to photograph over 60 ships and military vessels from 20 different nations around the world. Boston was the last harbor and stopping point this summer for these ships and their crews. - Feeling Blessed!
