Since last weekโs inauguration, America has experienced so much turmoil, division, frustration, and injustice. The attack on immigrants and trans rights, the pardoning of insurrectionists, and blatant antisemitism from the White House staff has been nothing short of disturbing.
As an artist and small business, it is important for me to vocalize my stance. In the current state of our government and our nation, being silent and complicit makes one equally as guilty as advocating for these injustices.
โ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฑโ is a photographic series I had created after the disheartening results of the presidential election in the fall. This work sheds light on human emotion and the negative impact this movement will have on everyday people. There are so many lives that will be affected with the loss of access to gender affirming care, the assault on womenโs rights and bodily autonomy, the elimination of a marriage equality, enablement of mass deportation of immigrants, allowing the prolific spread of false information, and even the cuts to funding to public schools.
What has been done cannot be undone, but I hope that as a nation we band together in these times of crisis and advocate for our freedoms. Advocate for those in your life who are women, transgender, q***r, people of color, immigrants, or even handicapped. In the future, please remember to vote with compassion. Vote with empathy. Vote for a future that we can all be proud of, not just a future for the white man.
