We take pictures because we want to remember what something looked like.

But years later, we realize they preserved so much more.

One fall, they’re little enough to play in the leaves.

They reach for your hand without thinking. They lean into their sibling. They still need you for a hundred little things every day.

And then somehow…

They’re taller.
They’re more independent.
The seasons have changed.
And so have they.

Life doesn’t usually announce the last time something happens. We simply look back one day and realize how much has changed.
