I’m always drawn to photographing that quiet space where femininity feels both powerful and untamed — less performance, more presence.

Some women do not need direction.
They need witnessing.
I make images for the wild-hearted, the tender, the luminous, the becoming. — gorgeous Lauren photographed in our land of Topanga Canyon. My pop-up session now open to book. Link in bio x

Light, breath, music between the notes. Photographing Freya Ridings felt less like a shoot and more like witnessing something sacred. These are the moments that stay with you.

Fun fact. My mom dated Jerry Garcia on and off for a few years. One night in 1970 she was headed from Brooklyn to see his show at the Fillmore East in NYC with friends. As she used to share the story with me and my Dead Head friends it was pouring with rain. Her and her friends were all stoned and they were headed over the Brooklyn Bridge when they saw this guy barefoot with long hair hitchhiking. My mom said let’s ask if he needs help. He indeed needed a ride. He got in and as my mom described it, he wiped his long blonde, rain drenched hair from his face and it was Greg Allman stoned out of his mind. They asked where he was headed and he said to open up for his friend Jerry Garcia and his band. In delight my mother said that’s where we’re headed. Apparently, that show was legendary at The Fillmore. I recently found this photo and you can see my gorgeous blonde mom left front stage in white. My high school friends nickname for me was Jerry’s girl because I never knew my real father. The best part is my mother never liked the Dead. She always told Jerry she was a Stones and Zeppelin fan— he’d said to her, me too. And no, Jerry is not my father, sadly. 😂 But certainly my mother’s love of classic rock music and it blaring in our house and in our cars influenced me. It’s where not only my love of music began but my art of photography expanded — capturing musicians in their magic on stage.
