Marge will be dearly missed. We are so encouraged to know that her owners have some beautiful photos of her to aid in the grieving process and to keep her memory bright.

is a very special day to us. Imagining a world without dogs is pretty heartbreaking. Dogs have their challenges, but they truly make our lives richer.

We are taking a birthday bag full of goodies to the LucasCo.CanineCare&Control where they are throwing a birthday party for the shelter pups! We hope you get to celebrate your own dogs today on National Dog Day and we hope you remember the ones who don’t have a permanent place to stay.

What is holding you back from considering a senior when adopting a pet?

We are such hound lovers, he tugged on our heart strings. We went to meet him and knew he needed to come home with us. He and Sloane met and we knew he would be staying. Instant best friends.

❤️But even more so, you need to believe us when we tell you that this is the truth. Whether pup or person, you are not required to earn your right to be in a photo. Your appearance, your social comfort, your ability to do tricks or give a great smile… Nothing makes you less worthy of having your picture taken.

💩🤎Calliope🤎💩

Sometimes a defect/health issue/illness cannot be managed in a way that relieves a dog’s pain/stress/discomfort enough to allow for a good quality of life… THIS IS NOT CALLIOPE’S STORY.

Calliope’s anatomy did not develop in a way that allowed for normal excretion of stool. (Her bu****le wasn’t able to get the p**p out correctly). Because of the defect, her breeder essentially discarded her. She would not sell and was, therefore, of zero value to them. Many of us working in animal rescue believe all life has an intrinsic value and is worth caring for no matter the circumstances. Planned Pethood decided that Calliope IS of value and deserves the best chance to live a happy life.

Calliope has had a surgical procedure to allow her p**p to leave her body appropriately. However, she is unlikely to be able to control when this happens. Her forever family can give her nothing less than full commitment to cleaning and care and acceptance of the daily risk for p**p disasters. I won’t sugar coat this… I won’t douse it in Poo-Pourri… Calliope deserves the very best effort.

At 13-weeks-old this Dobie girl’s feet are too big for her body and her ears are softer than velvet. The first thing she does upon being given freedom in the studio is trot over to steal one of my flip flops. As she carried it around in full puppy mischief, I couldn’t be happier knowing where she could have ended up.

Calliope’s issue is a very small thing in her life. But it could be a very big thing to potential adopters. They have to be willing to have faith that the inconvenience will be so severely overshadowed by the joy of her companionship.

This one’s special…
